I understand the reason for the 1-4 skip shift. Of course one of my very first mods was the skip shift eliminator. Its highly annoying, but it does what it was supposed to do. No gas-guzzler tax and having to buy an eliminator is well worth it to me. Much better solution then the autos AFM as well. |

I should probably get a skip shift eliminator. I've never completed a 1-4 shift though. The few times it's come up, I either hesitate while the revs drop and it goes in, or I rev it up enough to complete my 1-2 shift. It's pretty much trained me to always run the RPM up higher before shifting, which is probably better for the engine anyway. It doesn't take much gas pedal to hold it at a slightly higher RPM so I don't think I'm hurting the mileage much. It's when I do try to drive easier that the skip shift kicks in so I just don't bother.

I hate the skip shift but am concerned if it would be a case for voiding warranty on a trans problem if I have an eliminator?
Gas pedal positon alone does not determine fuel use. It is Pedal position, load, rpm and speed that determine fuel use. An engine would drown out if the same amount of fuel was applied at full throttle at 1000 rpm as 6000 rpm |

Mine does not shift from 1-4 EVER!
In the rare occasion that it requests I do so (such as being stuck behind a dump truck) I just adjust my driving.

Vettes have it too. My mother just takes off in 2nd gear in her 2004 Z06. I've tried that, but the Camaro is a little heavy to do it regularly.

Yep, this "skip-shift" isn't something new that GM came up with to piss off Camaro owners. LOL
It's been around since 1989 when GM went to the 6-speed transmission in the Corvette. Have it on my '96 LT4 (6-speed) too. Very easy to defeat (either by driving style, or eliminator).
