the GM one uses your key... i shut off my car every time i fill up anyway so theres absolutely no inconvenience

I'd probably buy the GM one. Some cheap caps don't seal well and a loss of pressure will cause the dreaded Check Engine Light.

I have a locking fuel cap, love it. Been on the car for about 9K miles, no issues. I don't have to worry about some jerk, kids or whoever putting something in the tank.

Typically sugar in the tank causing damage is a a myth. Sugar doesnt desolve in gasoline. Now Kayo Syrup that will mess up a vehicle.

and as others have said it not to stop the gas stealers.... as much as it is to stop the (ahem) fuel additives the haters may put in your tank...
