There is two ways to install vinyl, WET or DRY. Wet is the better method using a vinyl Installation Fluid. YES, when you do it dry it does get bubbles and 95% of them will disappear with a few hours in the sun. The other 5% you can take a pin and hit them in the middle and use a squeegee to push them down.

I would leave it in the sun for a day and if they do not look good, then raise holy hell.

Spoke with dealer. Stripes were installed using a wet system. He swears that the bubbles will work their way out over the course of about three days if I can leave the car in the sun. Hard to do right now with our weather but I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

They will also be buffing out all the scratches the put on my hood and trunk.

Bottom line - don't leave your car alone and if you can be there to help, that would be a great idea. Sure glad this will be covered under warranty if the problem persists.

Amazing that even a dealer wouldn't recognize the value of this car and take extreme measures to protect it!

Unfortunately to some dealers, it's JUST another new car....they could care less about it.....

Could only leave it in the sun for about 4 hours yesterday and then the rain came pouring down. Cloudy, cold and rainy again today. I didn't notice much if any change in the bubbling. I'll keep you all posted. I'm sick to my stomach and haven't been able to make myself go out to the garage to look at it much. With the crappy weather I haven't been able to wash it up to really inspect the damage. From the sounds of the forecast, will probably be a while before I can.

The timing has been off with this car from the very start. I seem to constantly take one step back for every two steps forward. I have a major headache from it.

Truthfully, I don't even trust them to buff out the car... I'm afraid they will make it worse.

I can't tell you how much this disappointment is overwhelming me right now. Between the gloomy weather and my barely one week old Camaro being scratched already, it's all I can do to even think about my car right now. I'm stuck and can't do much about it and there's no end in sight. Weather forecast is for cold and rain for at least the next week.

Yes I'm whining and thanks for listening. Only members of this sight understand how tragic this is!

Update:

After over a week of rain, it sounds like we will have at least a half day of warm, sunny weather tomorrow and maybe all day on Sunday. So I will get the car out into the sun and will report back Sunday evening whether the "heat" theory works.

I seriously doubt it will make a difference. It has been 4 days since the stripes were installed and I would assume that in my garage, they would have dried a little.

More in a couple days.

I'll try to take some photos when I get home and post those. Perhaps that will reveal why I'm so ticked off.
bud mine never came out and I've had it 3 weeks now. luck has it they were all near the edge and when hot in the sun, they worked out easy. but they don't magically go away

Your right. I followed the directions of the dealer and they have not come out. In addition, when I try to work them out when the stripes are warm, all that seem to happen is the vinyl stretches. There are so many of them I really think they will just have to do it over.

Going to the dealer tomorrow. We'll see what they say about it. They still have to buff out the scraches they left on the hood. The more I look at them, the more I'm convinced the marks were left by the plastic squeegy they use to smooth out the stripes.

They simply didn't prep the car correctly. It was filthy when I got it back and that tells me they didn't wash it well enough.

In just a few years all cars will be covered in 3M wrap on top of primer.

They are telling me that having it out in the sun where the stripes can be exposed to heat will fix this but I noticed another camaro next to mine whose stripes were also installed today didn't have near as many bubbles.

Can anyone who had dealer installed stripes tell me if this is normal or if I should take it back to the dealer?

Thanks!
This is the main reason I ordered cgm stripes over VR
don't trust the dealer to install anything but the license
plate However I saw black with silver stripes that was done
real nice centered no bubbles or dirt underneath,
wrapped over the edges. The dealer had a body shop do the work
If one of their mechanics did it you would probably have grease to
deal with too

Here is what you do ...Go to the dealer make them give you the money for the new stripes...Then turn around and go to a good Paint shop and have them paint your stripes on instead ....They will have to sand everthing anyways which in turn will take care of the scratches the deler put in it ...Might cost you another $500 but you will be much happier in the end.....
Where are you located ?????Find yourself a good Body Shop

Oh-there's "so many"? That won't work out. Do over! Tell them to order a new set (or money back like suggested). Your scratches are hopefully in the top layer of clear and will come out.
Let us know how it owrked out today!
