You get what you pay for.
The filter media is crucial to preserving your engine.

I installed it and it is well made, looks good, and surprisingly, is providing about 3-4 mpg increase. Don't know about power, since I won't have it denies, but it feels stronger. ( probably just the sound, but that alone is good) in comparison, it is better that the one, a name brand, I had on my Mustang GT in 01, and equal to the one, a Fujita, sold by GM dealers, n my Solstice, at 2.5 times the price. Unless you are obsessed with name brands and like to throw money way, these and others coming out might be worth looking at if only for the mpg.
A butt dyno isn't accurate, and a 3-4mpg increase could very easily be 1-2mpg increase due to the new intake, and 1-2mpg increase because of changes in:
environmental conditions
Driving habits
A clean air filter
Tire inflation
etc.

A more accurate test would be to have a before install / after install dyno done. As well as track your MPG over the course of several tanks from the SAME GAS STATION. (not just same brand of gas).

A cold air intake is WAY MORE than "Just a tube with a filter on the end". There's a lot of science, research, and design that go into them.

That's not to say that these lesser known intakes are bad. It's just that they really haven't been tested in detail on a Camaro and posted here. Some people are reluctant to take a chance on a budget intake, when there are so many other PROVEN choices out there.

Ted Jannetty did an excellent comparison of a lot of different Cold air intakes using and pulling data from a dyno, air flow meter, thermometers, etc..

Again.. not all dynos measure things equally either. But the comparison that Ted did used the same dyno, in the same environmental conditions, using the same car, and the same gas.. In other words, he worked very hard to log a stable baseline and keep all other possible factors equal for doing the comparison.

Op got tired of getting beat up about his V6 in the V8 section. Stop trying to compare your solstice to a Camaro.

Here's the thread, kind of amusing.

Why are you so obsessed with your ebay CAI? Are you going to continue to keep posting until you prove that your ebay intake is better or as good as a "name brand?"
Since you have no idea who even made your intake and did no dyno/ AFR readings/ or track runs you have no way of proving to anyone here that your money was well spent or wasted...

We are all aware that you can get CAI, panel filters, and generic items off ebay. I reserve that for parts that don’t have the potential to destroy my motor like LED lights and stickers....

I'm thinking it should be closer to the filter to get a better reading of the IAT. Not in the middle of the pipe where it can pick up heat soak easier.

But hey all CAI intakes are just a tube and filter right.... No science in it at all....

Apparently, his buttdyno is more accurate than a shop's dyno that costs thousands of dollars.

I wonder how much he charges per hour to strap his ass to my wheels for a couple of pulls?

Yeah, and off topic but at least he has posted this thread is in the right section and is a valid conversation. I was expecting to see a lot those comparisons and performance reviews in this thread. Thanks for sharing.

If you need comparisons and hard data, this is what you need:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251450

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...lE1dE5ZNVI5aVE

Besides the data posted there, it comes down to personal choice of aesthetics and build quality.

I chose to go with CAI and a scoop. And I'm quite happy with my purchase.
