If or when, as the case may be, you move to the VA, you should totally qualify for vocational rehab. Which has a huge benefit for disabled veterans. I'm sure your VA case worker will bring it up. If not you should be all over them. Again, if you have any questions on how the VA worked with us PM me and we'll give you the scoop. I'm sure you have plenty to deal with while you're still wearing the uniform. But when the time comes, we'll be around.

Wow buddy, this...I didn't want to hear...like if you aint dealing with enough. Just remember, your mind is the first battle ground and it effects how your body responds to illness and even medication so win that fight and the rest will go much better.

I'm not saying think positive for positive sake (that does nothing), I just mean don't get down and stay down because your body will follow.

I know the LORD can do all so I will lift you up to him.

GOD BLESS!

TAG/CUBANASO...I had a 7 ft fall during a partol 4 1/2 years ago on a submarine. we took a sudden sharp angle while I was climbing down a latter. I lost my grip fell and landing almost vertically on my shoulderblade. I heard two pops and had the worst pain, I also lost total function of my arm. since then there is a crazy burning sensation in my back, a constant shooting pain from between my shoulder blades to my right hand, weakness in grip in my right hand, loss of sensation/numbness in my right hand/arm. My right shoulderblade is super sensative, without an undershirt a wool sweater feels like scrubbing steel wool on my back. The same area also gets red and swells, and my hand swells. and there is a stabbing pain between my shoulder blades at the apex of every breath. at least once a month something happens that flares up what evers wrong back there. when that happens I cant use my arm and the pain is unbareable. once I had to go to the ER and they gave me a shot of morphine, vicodin, and vallium and the pain was so bad the meds didnt even get me drowsy!

gtahvit Ill definately be getting that info from you. But I searched the VA disability rating charts, and they dont have a rating for RSD???

Dang, man. That sounds horrible. Luckily, you were on patrol. I think they should take care of you at least, no?

TFord, yeah if that happened while on duty there is NO WAY they should drag their feet on this. Just picturing the fall brings pain to mind so you must really be going through it buddy.

Keep us updated and I'll keep praying.

T-Ford, Man I wish I could help you out. I do have a few sugestions. I was diagnosed with a disease that they say will criple me eventually but because there are less then 500 people diagnosed with it in the world they are not looking for a cure. Pain management is something I have become very good at. Look on the internet @www.mannatech.com. Start taking the ambrotose powder 2 heaping teaspoons a day. This stuff saved my life 8 years ago. I was so sick when I started taking it that it took about 3 months for me to really feel like I was almost back to normal. It is also not covered by insurance. I take a lot of antioxidants also. The more pain your body feels the more toxins build and make it worse. Good luck. I hope you can try it for a few months. BTW They figured I would be using a cane by now and I'm not even close!

Post UPDATE

well as of today my doctors have started me on narcotic therapy. I have to orally take morphine twice daily for 6 months, along with getting nerve blocks in my neck to get my pain down to a level so that it can be managed by other medications. not to happy about being perpetually doped up, wish me luck:(

Yeah, take it slow and be careful..morph is highly addictive (so I hear). I'd suggest as someone else said, to look at every possible medication or treatment that could help. It does not hurt to try different things and hopefully find something that your body responds best to.

Its funny how things suddenly get shocked back into perspective all the time. Just when I seem to be a bit off track with myself, a story or event or whatever like this clears everything back up as to what is really important in life.

Stick it out man, you sound like you can kick some ass, so do that and keep your head up. I'm sure any of us here will be here just to talk and do anything we can, communities are good like that.

I appreciate it bro! keeping my head up is the hardest, yet most important thing to do. It does put things in perspective, as far as whats really important. The support and help from my family, and my Camaro5 family really helps out a lot. right now Im working really hard to get things set up for my transition to civilian life.
