Also not to be nit picky, but the 7.0 liter motor is not a big block, it is built on the same archetecture as the ls3 or l99 motor

Don't get caught up on 25hp. It doesn't make that big of a difference, and if you plan to do some big hp modded racing almost all the big guys goto automatics. Get whatever you will enjoy more. Banging gears? or multitasking comfort?

Don't forget the LSA in the ZL1.

Who could forget the LSA?! the ZL1 just isnt an option, i dont have 65k laying around haha. I will barely be able to get the ss. I think I will just take whatever the camaro gods give me
And then I can be a cool SS owner at the age of 18! Hopefully it all works out.

It sounds like they will be introducing the LS7 in the Camaro for MY2014. How much modding did you do to your V6. I ask this because any exhaust modification you do to a L99 (auto) car you will need to tune out the AFM otherwise it doesn't sound very good. Just something to think about.

yup...tuned auto vs tuned manual...I'd bet the auto wins at the drag strip...seen it myself.

It's funny how most the guys on here think manual is the end all be all.... When most of them probably rip through clutches faster then gears!

Horsepower isn't everything. The auto is more consistent at the track and tends to finish first with professional drivers. You can't shift as fast as your computer.

this is true. as you move up the ranks you drift away from true manuals very quickly. google Lenco. it took a while for the technology and knowledge of materials science to make planetary gears durable for very high horsepower (2000+). I've been away from drag racing for a few years, but I know the higher level sportsman cars are starting to run autos/converter drives more. source: I used to race a 7 second dragster with a powerglide.

Also, like others have said what is your end goal? If you want a consistent drag strip/street car you will want an auto. Pretty hard to beat a computer.
