I don't use car wash or any kind of soap. Wet rag and water and a little elbow grease when needed. But my car rarely gets dirty enough to need a washing of anykind... I keep it wiped down after every drive....

Granted they don't do as good as doing it by hand, they do get the dirt off and then doing a quick detail after words always assures just as good of a shine as if ya did it yourself in the driveway....
I think you contradicted yourself there

Want to bet? Maybe it hasn't seen water in YOUR possession, but I bet it has at the factory.

I put it through the car wash all the time and I don't think twice about it. It's just a car, folks. Yeah if I had black paint I wouldn't, but really it's not a big deal. My car is a daily driver - rain, snow, sleet, hail, salt, etc. I prefer to use the touchless car wash and will use that most of the time, but every now and then I'll take it through a regular car wash too with no regrets.

My research has shown that the chemicals utilized in TOUCHLESS WASHES are strong enough to strip your wax. Then they add chemicals to the rinse to give a water beading effect on the car. Looks like you still have wax, but in reality your protection is gone.

Good info here... http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...g-of-wax/page3 from a Meguiars rep. I disagree with him about the salt though. Since I use a sealant I feel it is more resistant and will let the salt sit.

Use the TOUCHLESS only... Being your on the east coast you can not wash it by hand all year long, Never use the automatic with those plastic things swinging dirt everywhere and scratching your paint. I will not even take mine to those hand wash places either .

This subject is as controversial as when to change your oil, what brand gas do you use, how to break in your car. Everyone has an opinion. I'll just not say.

I hand wash it all the time except for december, jan, and feb (wasnt cold in Ga this Nov) becuase its too cold. I take it to the drive through wash and yes i get swirls and all that but oh well. I love my car and love detailing it when the weather is right. Looks amazing when i wax it etc...
It is my daily driver and i hate having it dirty. I rather have a clean car with some swirls that are barely noticeable when up close than to leave the paint spotless for the next owner whenever i upgrade my Camaro. It already came with swirls when it was brand new, dealer doesnt care much about the paint. Even if your camaro has never seen rain or always garage kept, it will get swirls from the dirt and other natural elements whenever you take it out.
Idk call me crazy but I still receive many compliments on how good and very well taken care of my car looks. Its been 14 months 31xxx miles and still looks amazing if not better then the first day I bought it.
