I would do a search since this has come up a LOT in the past 4 years. The R/T is nice but it's really, really hard for me to get over how big it feels. It's just a lot of car all around you. I felt like I could hit a building and not know it. I think if you're a guy who just uses the car to cruise around town then I think the R/T is fine. It's comfortable, it looks great, and it's got decent pickup. 99 times out of a 100 that's all we're doing anyway. The 392 is really what you want, but the R/T is fine. But if you want something more sporty, with better handling and more power, I would opt for the SS.

that is the Mopar crowd you might want to ask.. I am a member there as well.

The Challenger is heavyier, the R/T is slower than the SS being heavier and having less power and a smaller motor..

SRT will give the SS a run for it's money and will walk it, little more power but also more weight.

The Challenger has a few more options than the Camaro insofar as creature comfort, but the price is $5K - $7K higher in most cases for equally equipped.

Challenger is a bit bigger, and has more leg room and trunk space.

Camaro is sexier, wider, lower, faster, less expensive, and IMO all around a better built car.

Like most Chrysler products, there are tons of electrical issues with the LX/LY line from Chrysler, from unexplained stalling (ECU crashes) to PCM failures, and TIPM and headlight wiring harness related fires....

Camaro has it's issues as well.

Had the Challenger had a Convertible option, it would have been a tough decision for me, as I do like the car, but I decided I wanted a Convertible.. and the Camaro won.

I love Challengers. If you want a great cruiser, thr R/T would be great. This would be my first choice if there wasnt a Camaro. They are still pretty quick, just not as quick as an SS. Not sure why people are calling them slow. They still can move.

I like the Challenger. If it was up to me, would have bought that instead of the Camaro, but the wife like the Camaro better, so there you go. You could see better, and it was bigger on the inside. Had plenty of power and was fun to drive. Can't really go wrong with either one.

I disagree, I drive an LFX and when I got in a new challenger RT it had so much more power, huge difference

You want to save money for a Camaro.. yet you want to continue spending money on other cars.. I don't see this working to your advantage. Sell the BMW, buy something under $10k and then get the Camaro when you can.

Any R/T will frankly bitch slap a V6 Camaro stock for stock, you are comparing a low/mid 13 second car (the R/T) to a mid/high 14 second car (the V6 Camaro). The R/T isn't that far off from an L99 SS, especially with the auto which has run as quick as 13.1s bone stock. I would suggest trying to find at least a 10 model with the STP option more sport tuned suspension, better brakes.)

Honestly, look at his previous cars, Impala SS, Monte Carlo, BMW 7 series, I think it would be a perfect fit for him.

I haven't driven one, but they got the Camaro beat in style. Very sharp cars.

I drove both cars and bought 5.0 Mustang instead. I really liked the SRT-8 Chally but it was just too big.

I really love the exterior of the Challengers but that interior is really bad, it looks exactly like my Dakota's interior. The car deserves the interior of the Charger once it got the updates. Camaro will be the better car to get unless you just like to cruise and occasionally rev it, problem is the hemi's redline at 5,500rpm if I'm not mistaken so not much up top but down low around town should be fun.

Id have to say It all depends on what he wants in a car. Getting a used Chally RT will be cheaper with more options and creature comforts Compared to the camaro also it is a tad slower and heavier feeling but its alot better on the Hwy and just cruising. The camaro is not as comfy doesnt have Nav screen or some other options the Chally Has I like them both but since i dont need the creature comforts and i like being a lil quicker with more style Id go for a Camaro.

I'm on my third one & no electrical issues. All car manufactures have problems... A small percentage of people out of the total sold have issues and now it's a POS.....lol
