Lol... I've driven on the streets with slicks many times. No problems in these 4,000lb cars.

Slicks could/will break axles, break the G80 (posi)/ring/pinion, and twist trailing arms. Something will eventually twist or break unless you upgrade the differential/axles/rear suspension parts.

You're wrong about defrauding the dealership as well. Any little bit of rubber or something that points to you were seriously abusing the car and they won't warranty crap. |

At about 370 RWHP you may not break anything but it is possible. These drive lines are actually engineered to handle about 600 HP according to GM engineers. However if you do a hard launch from say 3000 RPM the shock load could be enough to break things that aren't upgraded. Shock load can be significantly higher on a hard launch. As far a street legal, are they DOT slicks?

Guess I didn't realize the Camaro should not be on a track? Back to walmarts it must go.

My warranty wouldn't hold water, but OP's should if it is stock I would assume? Don't think to many people brake stuff by going 10mph? Sorry for making the suggestion..... I forget how G rated this site is sometimes. I was in no way trying to say "lets go defraud the dealership".

Plus it's against the law AND inherently unsafe to do it with your daughter in the car. Plus he also asked, and I quote, "Would someone please follow me to hide my slicks from the police. I don't want to get caught." You know, I'd love to worry about myself, but with guys like him on the road who purposefully risk the safety of the general public, it's kind of hard to. I've driven in slicks, drag radials and skinnies for 20 years. While non-DOT tires are illegal on the road, driving short distances on slicks never was a big deal to me unless it was super cold or wet out. But slicks don't handle as well and driving on the street hardens them so I've been told.
I think if OP has never used them before he won't benefit from them. If OP had been banging gears with slicks over the years he wouldn't' have asked on the forum.
