Did the $400 include your fine? If so that's about right. When it comes to traffic tickets all your paying for is his/her contacts at the court house.

This is one you need to fight...probably after retaining a lawyer. Every state is different, but in CA, reckless carries the same weight as a DUI. Remains on your record for seven years (as opposed to three for things like speeding, red light violations), and will hit your auto insurability square in the nuts.

Pleading down to a speeding violation would be a great option... but trust me, you do NOT want a 'reckless' on your record.

What kind of charges am I looking at with this being my 2nd violation in almost 3 years? Will I lose my license?

Regardless I need Info of what is truly going to happen... Truly only thought i was doing 45mph max. Thats one thing I dislike about these cars is you dont feel like your going fast when you really are.

By the way if this helps I live in Ohio an the numbers on the ticket say ORD. 333.02a
having successfully fought 3 tickets in the state of ohio. Get the lawyer. That alone will save you on the cost of insurance.

Secondly, he will be able to effectively draw out the court dates. Therefore there is less chance your officer will show up.

Thirdly, if he does not have a actual speed limit then you will be able to get it knocked down.

once again, i have fought 3 and beat them all without paying a dime. Also lawyer was a friend so that helps.

Lawyers cost more than the fine.
Contest it and hope the officer is a no show in court.

YA, lawyers suck.
Plead not guilty and go plead your case yourself.
I got a 91 in a 65 reduced to a seatbelt violation, no points & no lawyer.
Can't say you can do that in Ohio but it's worth try.

I had all 3 of mine dismissed due to lack of evidence when the officers didn't show up.

That's a big risk to take. In 7 years I haven't missed court but once (it's pure over time, I would be stupid to miss it), and that was only because I had a higher priority case at Superior Court, so the City Court takes a back seat to that.

Go to court, make whatever argument it is you have, see what happens, and learn from it. Personally, I'd rather have a regular speeding ticket than "reckless operation" on my record. See what you can do about that, and maybe get it knocked down to just speeding, or something lower if you are lucky (if you were speeding, at some point, there is only so much you can do). Look into what "reckless operation" actually means before going in. Ask what the claim of going 55-65 was based on.

You sir are an exception. Here in a Ohio our officers tend to uh well take their time.

plus any good lawyer can extend out a case for 3 separate trials.

Get the lawyer,do you have anything like the ticket clinic in your state or similar, because the lawyer knows what evidence to ask for and also the radar calibration certificate should be checked to see when it was last calibrated plus a lot of other legal ins and outs, plus you may not have to show for court with a lawyer there for you saving you from taking off work,I did this for my wife and the ticket was dismissed and she never had to go to court only paid court cost + lawyer fee.Because that officer will more than likely be there don't take that chance, and I've also heard that in some cases they don't have to be there Please don't take my advice to be perfect I'm no lawyer and have only dealt with minor traffic issues myself either by paying the fine or the lawyer.
