It's a law in Georgia too, don't know how much you have to slow down if you don't get over. This is just common sense, but some people don't have that.

Same here.

NC made it a law a few years back after a couple of bad accidents that killed LEOs and I believe at least one person who had been stopped.

I've always done it regardless if there was a law or not. Plus my dad is a cop, so I hear this kind of stuff all the time. He has even threatened to give me a ticket for not following little things and he is a gear head like me lol.

I've seen it posted before that it's 10 under. This was a few years ago though.

Been doing this for quite some time!! Thank you Fbodfather for spreading this message to all fellow Camaro brothers and sisters!!

Also if and when I get pulled over. I try to pull over to a safer place. Especially at night!! I know, in Florida at night, you can drive to the next well lit spot when being pulled over!!

They may have changed it, but its 20 these days. Only reason I know is because I just pulled an all nighter driving from NJ to Florida ( I arrived this morning) and I read it at one of the rest areas where I stopped.

By the way, driving all day/night then working the next day sucks.

It is sad that we have to have laws to get people to do the right thing. Unfortunately, in todays world, common sense seems to be lacking.

Move over , slow down. It does make sense. Also remember, the cop, paramedic... over there in the emergency lane is somebody's brother, husband, wife... How would you feel about the fool who ran over your spouse or one of your children...?

Thats the law out here in Iowa too and it doesn't go just towards LEO, but also to road crews too. Some instances you can't pull over, but always make the attempt to.

Good to also move over if you can where there is a vehicle broken down on side of road. Seen too many people, myself included changing a flat tire on the road side of a vehicle. Kind of hard to change a tire and watch your back too, well not impossible but makes you hurry. Good post Mr. Settlemire,

Thanks for bringing attention to this issue. Many don't realize how many police and tow trucks are struck every week nor how many are injured. This was a case that occurred in Warren MI this past winter with dry roads while Trooper was on a stop.

yup we have it here in CA, and I do it.. reduce my speed and move over.. Not just for Police and EMS, but for highway workers as well..

Even if I am not in the right lane, I move over thus allowing anyone in the right lane room to move over when they are supposed too.

---------

Though I agree most people have no clue and pay no attention.

The other thing that irks the hell of of me because both my mother-in-law and myself have been the victim of, is idiots that do not wait until the cross walk is clear before proceeding with their right turn..

The law here is simple, doesn't matter if the person is walking away from you, you MUST WAIT until they have exited the cross walk by stepping up onto the curb before you proceed.. Annoys the hell out of me when the people behind me honk at me while I am waiting for a pedestrian to clear the cross walk.
