I'm the same way. I usually go to the back of the lot where there are always spaces between cars and park about 2 spaces away from the last car. that way I'm close to other vehicles, but not next to any.

I just got one in my 2010 silverado. Walked into The garage Sunday morning and it was so obvious :(. Having it repaired this Wednesday.
