Which is nuts because there aren't many long clear straights and they must have had no traffic. I guess with that extra weight, it gave them more downforce

I know the "pike" better then most and I will agree that it is not conducive to those speeds! Especially in our area of Western Mass.

In the video...speed-o only got to about 190. The last 2 increments between numbers was 30, not 20.

The best part of this whole thing is the op and others over on svtpp talking trash about something that never happened. Heck even the biggest tool over there "thepill" was talking crap and never even watched the video until he was corrected by another member. It must really suck to be blinded by one brand so bad that you talk crap before even knowing the facts. I guess that's the true definition of a fan boy huh?

Yeah, and that never happens over here. Only every single day.

Any stock car capable of a 190MPH run is impressive no matter what name sits on the grill. I don't think many people understand how hard that is to achieve even in today's world, and to have a sixty some thousand dollar car do it is even more impressive.

I think the point is being lost is that the OP made the claim that the car did OVER the 200 mph mark when in fact it didn't, thus making his claim and the one Ford made, invalid.

Do any of us really doubt that the car can't do 200 mph with the right conditions, enough road, and the correct driver? It's similar to the claims that the ZL1 ran the Ring in 7:41 (I think), has anyone duplicated that time, anyone? Does that mean the ZL1 can't do it? Dodge claims the 392 Challenger can run 186-mph, I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Bottom line is the car is going to walk away from the ZL1 in the top speed realm which is what Ford was aiming for I suspect.

Getting a car to run 200-mph safely is not as easy as backing up claims such as 1/4 mile, or 0-60 mph, there are not many venues around to test the claim.

This^ for all we know the GT500 did it with a 1/8 tank of gas and a driver weighing in at 120 pounds in ideal conditions. So it may be abel to do it, it may not. Just like the ZL1 running the ring in 7:41, ideal conditions great driver etc etc

I definitely think the GT500 could hit 200 MPH with a 50MPH tailwind, driving downhill, piloted by Dale Earnhardt.
