Thanks for the helpful input. Nice to get some info from someone who has one. Now go buy a ZL1 and compare them for me.

I would probably by the ZL1 coupe. Different animal than the one you have. If you must have a Mustang also I would get the gt500. In the long run it will depreciate less than the Roush.

Well, I talked to the Mrs. about it a little more today, and she said she doesn't want to use the ZL1 as a daily driver. She said with it being a 2-door, it gets to be a pain getting our 2-year old daughter situated in the back seat and getting her out. She also said there isn't much room in the back for her legs (which is true, the passenger seat is pushed just about all the way forward). So she said she would want to stick to a vehicle with 4 doors for a daily driver. She may take a hard look at the CTS-V sedan. That works for me. Means I'd get to use the ZL1 as the daily driver, if I don't want to drive my F150 Limited (which is the most luxurious vehicle I've owned).

I had the 2011 Roush 5XR which was the 2011 numbers release of the RS3. I was disappointed with the performance of the blown 5.0 and the cheap Chinese manual transmissions are junk!!! My similarly modded at the time SS would stomp the 5XR. I sold the 5XR to my neighbors brother who is a Ford guy.

Yeah, I don't blame you. They didn't have much power/torque at that time.

She and my 2-year old daughter love it too. Because I work out of state and want to spend as much time with the family as I can when I'm home, I hardly ride my Harley anymore. As much fun as it is riding, I have just as much fun playing around with the ZL1, especially with the top down. I can drive the ZL1 more often than I can ride the Harley, so that's why I'm considering the trade. Anyway, since the ZL1 we have is a convertible and automatic, I was thinking about getting a ZL1 coupe with a manual, just as a way to change things up and make it different. The convertible would become my wife's daily driver. The thought of getting the manual coupe to make it different got me thinking about Mustangs. I've always been a Ford guy. The ZL1 is my first Chevy. I first started looking at the Shelby, which I highly respect because of it's sheer power. I then started looking at the Roush RS3, which is less money than the Shelby and seems to be about on par with the ZL1 in regards to power (the '14 RS3 is 575hp/505tq). The Roush is also priced similar to the ZL1. Can anyone give a comparison between the ZL1 and the Roush RS3? I really think it would be cool to have a beast in the garage from both Chevy and Ford.
I would go '13 GT500 all day. Or possibly new vette when if you can wait

I had 5XR #30 and it was rated at 525hp / 465tq (flywheel). I had it dynoed and it put down 444rwhp and 395rwtq at 7lbs boost. From what I gather the 2013 RS3 has 565hp / 505tq (flywheel) with 9lbs boost.

When I put my Maggie on my SS LS3 with 5lbs boost, Roto-Fab, and an SLP catback it put down 520rwhp / 477rwtq. Those numbers still out perform the 12-13 RS3 numbers.

The LS3 is now at 656rwhp / 590rwtq at 9lbs boost.

I have a neighbor who just purchased a new mustang and had a 427 crate dropped in. then had a shop add the rousch package.
Car dyno'd at 740 crank and 640 rwhp it's a 6m.
