I found the article from Popular Mechanics. They timed an SS at 174.4

An SS will hit 155 in 5th gear and then bounce off the limiter. Without the limiter I've seen them hit 180 at endurance races.

Hit 174 in mine with headers, intake, and tune before I let off. Wasn't done yet.

I can speak for myself, If I knew how to put a video up I would but I don't so all I have is my word... I've gone 168mph and it would of kept going alil more but I was running out of road, and all I have is a exhaust so really no mods.

The DIC/HUD only shows 168 so you might have been going faster. But if you only have exhaust then that's not possible because you would be limited to 155. I'm assuming you're tuned too?

Hate to break it to you but he's in 5th, not 6th.

I had my L99 up to 160 and still pulling. CAI, axle back exhaust and a tune.

Ya I tuned out the speed governor but that's it no performance tune, naw I'm pretty sure I only 168mph but if I had more road I would have kept going lol

I've hit 156 before the limiter came on with a stock SS . It was still pulling, but with a CAI and a pulley I say high 170's.
