Dear President Johnson:
The Vietnam War is a useless exercise resulting in the unnecessary deaths of thousands of Americans. I do not support this war effort. Sincerely yours, Too Late to Do Anything About it Now. |

I don't like how they shrunk the upper grill and how they deleted the mail slot. I also don't like the tail lights. I do however like what they did with the lower part of the front fascia with the square fog light ports and larger lower grill opening.

I think it is mighty bold of the letter writer to state "I do not know of any Camaro fans who have anything favorable to say about the 2014 version". I can only assume Jim R hasn't spoken with many Camaro fans. I for one, think it looks pretty good and have seen numerous similar positive comments on this forum. Do the bad reviews outweigh the good ones? Yes. But I think people will warm up to the changes eventually - it's like your wife cutting her hair. Initial shock at the appearance change but eventual acceptance and (hopefully) approval.

I don't get why so many people are upset by the refresh. It's a car, either like it or don't. If you think it is a personal affront against your personal automotive views maybe you should start your own company and you'll outsell GM because you clearly have more know how.

I personally, really like what they have done with it now.I wasn't so sure at first, but it,as I look at it more, looks really good.People don't like change. However if they didn't do something the car then the design would stagnate, sales would drop and the car would end. It's happened once...you want it to happen again?
For all you people that want to upgrade, why not just buy a '14 then swap the frt/rr fascia's and sell you old car with the new stuff on it.Ever think of doing that? |

I'm in the majority of not liking the refresh, not buying a 2014, rather waiting for the 2016 model. I wouldn't hesitate to look at other brands...cough:mustang:cough, to add to the stable as well.

I just can't believe they didn't get rid of the tacky stamped fender 'gills'.

The refresh was nice. I liked it.
The KMart heat extractor and misproportioned hood it sits in sucks! Last edited by Hulkamaniac; 05-09-2013 at 08:57 AM. |

Four years of the Gen5, '10-'13, looking basically the same doesn't put it in the same category as a split window '63 Corvette (a lot of people cut out the split when the '64s came out without it...lol)...The '57 Chevy was out sold by Ford that year...The '69 Camaro had the numerous engine options and hp upgrades the previous years didn't...
Styling changes on those one year only models didn't hurt sales in subsequent years either....In forty-fifty years the argument may have some validity...But for now, to think the re-freshed Camaro is not going to sell, or that the older Gen5 is an instant classic, is ridiculous... |

The OP quotes Jim R., wherever that opine came from, as "the voice of the customer". It is not. It can be considered the voice of a customer, and it does not speak for everyone. Just his opinion. The refresh is no different than any other model change done to any model over any period of time. There is a group of people over reacting to it as if a model change is something new, and detrimental. It was time for the model to evolve. Products become stale, whether it be bread or cars. One has to provide fresh products. Who knows, maybe over time the classic, desireable car may be the refresh look so many are whining about....

It's still a Camaro...and it's still fairly similar to mine...so I like the '14.

Let me get this straight. Someone who has owned performance Chevrolets all their life is somehow now an expert to talk toward styling because of that? Wow. Maybe I should get to, because I've owned them all my life, too, including a 64 Impala SS (see how moot that point is?).
Should change that to "voice of A customer" instead of THE customer. There are some who thinks even the current design stinks. Most of them drive something else, but to each their own. But I like the pictures, so I'm thinking I'll like the car in person even more. But messaging? Really? What happened? GM sent the car an email? I would probably massaged it if I were going to do a refresh, rather than message it. Yeah, those kind of mistakes really make people sit up and pay attention...to grammatical errors. Then they miss the point of the message. It's one thing to misspell words here, but in a correspondence? Proof-reading is more than just using a spell checker. Jeez, if I were going to write a letter, I'd have put a bit more thought into it first. Very weak arguments with NO factual basis. None. Nothing wrong with the opinion of not liking the car due to the restyle, but sometimes it's HOW you deliver a message rather than the CONTENT that gets people to listen. In this case, it's too late because the refresh is already done and sounds more like whining instead of being constructive. And nobody's going to listen to whining.
