If so, have you tested it, and what do u think?
I did, and it notified me around 11 min later....UNACCEPTABLE!
Views/thoughts???
I believe the paperwork says it can take as much as an hour. So your eleven minutes is actually pretty good.

Also, they (LoJack) only gives you a 5 or 6 letter/number or combination of the signal hit. No vehicle info given by the tracking device. Officer has to call the LEIN operator, who hopefully knows how to get the LoJack info, in order to get VIN, color, year, make, plate etc. Lojack is great, but to be honest, I can't tell you how many times we find the Lojack equipped cars burned out, stripped or wrecked because there is a posse of 5-10 cop cars looking for the car. It is better to have the car slowed and disabled with police tracking it through Onstar than Lojack. I have recovered many more intact cars with OnStar than LoJack.

I think the OnStar immobilization, for now, is my ticket, and I work in Detroit.

Just my professional opinion..
Banshee, if I had read your thoughts before hand, I may have saved myself a chunk of change.

yeah, saw that too...plus a dealer added markup of $5000. I laughed when I saw that. But, I talked to a salesman (one of their top I believe..saw his name all over their wall) George Tasker. He let me test drive the 2SS they had at the time. Real straight shooter (he wants to sell a car and gain a loyal customer). He told me to come back in a few months and I could get my supplier discount.

They told us the same thing, as well as several other dealers. Come back in a few months...I can't wait that long!

I've been pestering Bob Lutz' granddaughter (we're classmates and friends) to help me get one, but she's no help. But she did tell me she got to drive an SS at his house over the weekend...

I like OnStar but have installed LoJack on mine for this reason.... rip the shark fin or the wires off the mirror and OnStar is defeated! Can't track it, can't shut it down and can't call for help! Professional thiefs know this but no one except the peson who installed LoJack in your car knows where in the car it is and LoJack can also shut the car down! Some thing to think about!

Yep that's what John L Sullivan told me, in regards to my sold order that they decided to jack up the price on. "I'll honor the deal, but not on this car, come back in a few months when I have a car you want on the lot..."

Ahh good point. I thought the shark fin was for satellite radio. And the On Star received just like normal GPS style communications... guess I was wrong.

Multiple layers of defense. So this does sound like another layer that can be added on top of existing passlock and onstar. And 2 way paging alarm remote of course.

Gonna have to look into how it shuts it down.

Yeah, I also saw an SS at Martin Chevrolet, $45k! Marked up $5k and they were charging $1800+ for the Lojack option. I think it's about $800 if you get Lojack installed on your own.

19 years in SE DC on the streets--> OnStar is amazing once you can get through to them which takes a few minutes via the departments communications after all the prompts when you call, but once they are landline it's minutes until the vehicle is tracked and shut and lock-ups are made.
When lo-jack first hit the streets it was a huge step forward but seems imo that their technology hasn't kept up...LoJack has huge tracking lags on the patrol units tracking system and they are found and located after stolen but almost always after they are dumped and parked. LoJack also has many issues with tracking with highrise buildings, tunnels, and other things that block transmissions.
Banshee in post 7 explains it well for LoJack...but onstar is the only way to go. I mean when the dispatcher tells us what they are saying in the vehicle as we are tracking them is such a plus...once after a carjacking we knew what gas station they were heading to for gas cause the idiots jacked someone who had little gas in the car...they pulled in to pump gas ...they were shut down at the pump and got a huge surprise...6-8 years.

Great, more crap to go wrong in 20 years. Is it possible to disable all that onstar garbage? I'd also like to drop the airbags ,xm and the AC. Too bad there was no delete options.

I HATE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS and besides my antitheft device is a pitbull.
