i don't have a true answer but i don't think it can be something as simple as a fix it ticket. there's probably a pretty hefty fine and you may need to get something that states you've reverted back to stock and there's probably a heft price to pay for that too.

but if you are planning on keeping your car for a while, i think all they do now is make sure oyu have no engine lights and check to see if the car is throwing any codes in the obdII port. but i haven't had to do a smog, i sold mine before i had to.
