As I said in another thread, I talked to a mechanic at my dealership yesterday and he said he installed a set of the GM performance mufflers (92206992) the day before and they were NO LOUDER than the stock, due to the duel cats and resonators in each bank (L99) I assume.
No muffler with the resonators sounds very nice. Has a low rumble at idle, much better when on it and not too much pop. For less than three bills, I had the mufflers cut out and straight pipe installed with the original tips welded on....straight, not cocked as from the factory and about 3/4" further back. I'm very pleased!

P.S. - Luckily the GM performance mufflers I ordered arrived damaged, so I was able to return them for a full refund. Big break for me....don't need them.

I installed the GMPP exhaust and it is louder. Without removing the resonators nothing is going to be "scare the neighborhood children" loud. It has greatly improved the exhaust note and made it sound like a 400 hp+ car. Not to mention it removed 30 lbs of weight and removed the awful saddlebags hanging down. I have a not so good clip. IF you have L99, then swapping the mufflers isnt the cure all. The massive resonator on L99s is the major sound killer. As HEATHN stated above, removing the resonator and adding and "x" crossover with the GMPP helped get the sound out the back.

On LS3, it will wake your car up a bit, but sounds good in my book!

I was at the dealership today to hear the GM 92206992 exhaust and the sound is definitely a big improvement over stock... they sound awesome! And not to mention they are cat backs! In addition, the throttle felt more responsive.

I already installed it on my LS3. It definitely improves the sound a bit (more deep bass) , the mufflers are much smaller and the tips are bigger.
It is not that loud than other aftermarket exhausts. So if you dont want a shouter in the rear of your car and a inlay-killing drone inside the car, a GMPP exhaust will be a good choice.

I uploaded two videos. It's hard to get the sound on tape as it effects in real. In real it sounds much better.

I have the GM 92206992 axle back mufflers, BBK stainless steel shorty headers and the CAI cold air kit on my LS3. Not loud but a nice deep tone, no drone and despite all the keyboard experts out there, I have a noticeable power increase. Ed M.

Had the GMPP mufflers installed on my 2SS on Saturday. I think the sound is much better than stock, but not obnoxious. I live in a condo and on a cold start in the parking garage (and not reving the engine) they set off two car alarms! Good thing the folks that own those cars leave for work before me.
