It can happen to just about any v8 engine that GM has produced in the last 6 or so years. Theres a #PIP4158D about this.

It happened to my car, though modified, and it was only on for less than 15 seconds....and it trashed the motor.

Note that the new oil pumps that the dealer will install are still prone to the same problem.
