But at the deal on the contract. If they destroyed the only contract you signed, it is back on them. Period. You have a copy of that contract that they destroyed as well correct OP?

Unfortunately that's not what happened they instead shredded the Orignal Sales Contract and tried to get me to sign a new one. Which I refused to do.

I've already decided no matter what they do, at this point I'm not taking the car. I'm just not sure how everything will work out. Technically the car is in my name and is no longer a new vehicle.
Bad situation, but the original paperwork is what should be honored. If it is not, then even if it is registered they need to take it back without new paperwork. I have heard of a the dealer calling people back after they took delivery to try to change the terms and people just left the car. It sucks for the dealership, but they are trying to change agreed upon terms.

You didn't sign the new paperwork so get your $1500 back and leave.

According to the FTC, the 3-Day Cooling Off Rule does NOT apply to the purchase of new automobiles or items sold online.

This is a common dealer scam, they get you to commit to a contract you sign and drive off and then a day or two later they tell you that the financing fell through. Most contracts have a finance clause that says “subject to loan approval” They use that to try to get you to come back in and sign a new contract with higher interest rate or higher purchase price. (they know damn well what you qualified for though this is just them trying to pad their bottom line) NEVER take possession of the vehicle until every i is dotted and t is crossed and the financing has been finalized. Better yet get financing on your own before you ever set foot in the dealer ship. When they want to discuss financing see what they are willing to offer and counter with the interest rate you were able to receive on your own. If they can beat it great if not go with what you already have.

Also make sure they fix every single issue you are concerned with before you take the car home, or get those repairs it in writing. If it was a verbal agreement between you and the salesman good luck in collecting on that.

Buying a car is an emotional decision for most of us and dealerships use that to their advantage. I am sorry that you got taken advantage like this but you need to be prepared before you start the car buying process otherwise they will nail you at every turn.

If they have no sales contracted, and are dumb enough to register the car in your name, then take the car and say thank you very much for the wonderful gift. That is an old dealer scam. Its like telling them you are trading in a car and they take it to the back for evaluation. You test drive a car and come back and they tell you they already sold your car. All dealer BS. You made a mistake giving them money before the car was ready for delivery. They are going to screw you around before they give it back.

Sounds like the finance person made a mistake and they were still on the "he's a kid" mode. Which is surprising since it seems you initially followed through on a professional level.

Like everyone said, recommend going back to the dealer asking them to take your name off the contract and you don't like the fact the original one was shredded. Ask for your $1500 back and report them to the Chevrolet customer service.

I wouldn't say "I spoke to my lawyer about this" because you haven't. They may call your bluff and ask to bring them in.

You can call a lawyer for free for 30 minutes for legal advise. Then you can use that advise.
