In essence nothing is escaping in the system since it is like a vacuum. But yes you do plug the rear PCV fitting is plugged to insure that nothing will escape the motor, in the system everything is metered by the mass air flow sensor and if some air were to escape or enter you can potentially make the fule trims unstable. The way the separator works is by intercepting the PCV line and condensing the oil vapors while slowly trickling them back into your oil fill.

Here is another choice for an oil separator. I received word from Tracy at RX about a month ago about testing this out for him. I was not able to get it hooked up until the day before I put my Camaro into storage. Installation was clean and simple. It replaces the breather that I had in this location. Looks good sitting in my engine bay. I will have more information about it in the spring after I get some miles on it. Also, I have attached a photo from Tracy showing the separator on his latest top mount supercharger build.

I really like the 1LE separator concept and have emailed back and forth with RX on this setup. I am just a little concerned about the GM comments on use of this in a sub 32 degree condition ? Also I am running a SC and wondering on how much water vapor is this going to catch and put back into the oil system during the colder months. I do use the car in the winter when the roads are clear and dry. ( the SC was eating up the 24 degree air yesterday, but back in the garage since they treated the roads and its snowing today)

Thanks for this info. I recently installed an Injen intake and was surprised to see how much oil was in the built-in "reservoir" on the stock intake where the tube from the valve cover connects. I wondered why a catch wasn't installed here too. I just picked up a Rx Catch Can from a C5 member and need to install it. I'm going to get the oil separator now too.
