have to keep in mind that so many dumb ass's accidentally set off their alarms (or purposely to find their cars) that most people don't take them seriously anymore. I know when I hear a car alarm going off I don't think the car is actually being broken into.

Sir i do believe that the alarm only goes off for some time before turning off. If it stayed on it would kill your battery.

I believe there was a way to set the senstivity on the 4th gen. To bad we can't do that now or can we?
