If I'm not mistaken, Kris Horton, the designer of that orange Camaro (at 19 no less), is a member of this forum. I remember when those renderings came out as well and was absolutely in love with them.

you know the artist might have gotten lucky. But you would be fooled if the car designers arent thinking 10 years out right now. Whos to say in 2000 GM didnt let a few renditions leak or GM saw this 10 years ago and picked it up and started working on it. To me cutting of the camaro and coming back with it was planned. They cut it off in 2002 and 3 years later already had a new concept. Cutting the camaro and firebird was stupid because GM had nothing to compete with the mustang, and lost a lot of business and probably some life long customers. But none the less it was a plan im pretty sure.

really? i think that front end looks terrible...but then again that might just be a reaction after already seeing/falling in love with the new current one.

When I saw it it was quite striking because it dropped the trend of extra elongation (last gen was a boat!) for new models and was much more the size of a regular car.. and it also had the very retro look. Like a 69 camaro with very modern features. My memory might have been clouded with the new actual camaro but I distinctly remember it was very close.

But it seems like they had just started planning this camaro in the last 5 years. So did the artist just have really good foresight?
your not crazy, I just found the issue, Dec 2000. my computer skills are lacking, and I don't have an image hosting site, will work on getting it posted.

As soon as I saw this back in the early 2000s...I was like...come on GM. You have to do this.
No offense....and to each their own, but YUCK!!!

I never did like that design.

If others like it, cool. For me?...oh no...

I remember the picture he is talking about. They put it in our local paper on the front page of the "car" section.

I like the top two SS designs very much but not the bottom one...looks like the fascia for an Impala!

the bottom car on this scanned images very closely resembles the front of a 70 Chevelle.
