One time I has a plastic trash bag get hung up under my car and started melting on the exhaust. You may want to check under the car.

NEW cars will have a "plasticky" burning smell coming from the cosmoline burning off of the underside of the motor, but only for the first 100 miles or so.

Customer service forum guys creep me out a little.
Kinda like in a killer-robots-acting-polite kinda of way. I'm sure they mean well, but still get that feeling when I read the posts.
