As far as I know all Bel radar detector and I think all radar detectors will give you a signal and shut themselves off if a "radar detector detector" is detected, so they have built in "radar detector detector detectors" obviously if your detector is being detected you can assume you speed is being monitors and drive accordingly.

Very true.

If you want a radar detector, I've heard the Valentine is a great one. I also hear a lot about people w/ Cobras. I don't recall the name of the one I have. I've had it for probably over 10 years...still works fine and never let me down. It's been in my garage for years as I really don't have to use it. The only time I'll put it in is on long road trips where I'll be driving for a while and find myself not looking for officers out on the road....no, I don't go that fast....c'mon...

I will tell you that if you have a radar detector in use where it's legal, the officer writes RDU (radar detector in use) on the back of the ticket. If you take it to court, the judge will 99% of the time side against you. In other words, if you have a radar detector and get pulled over, take it down. If you live in a state where they are illegal, I wouldn't even bother putting one up on that window.

If your serious get the V1. Once you have one with arrows you will never go back to anything else. There is simply no substitute for a V1. Its a tool and you have to learn how to use it. I cant tell you how many times the arrows saved my butt.

+1. v1 is the best. i think you will hafta fork over like 500 or 550. but tis worth it. but i dont want one on my windsheild, so ill get a police scanner in the glove box. or a hand held one.

Police scanners are nice and maybe entertaining to listen to but unless there is an organized speed trap it is not going to help. Ussually cops are just in there favorite hiding spots and not really talking on the radio about there exact location or if they are checking speed.

Oh yeah...forgot to mention that.

Police scanners won't do you ANY good for speed traps. First, if an officer is working a specific speed zone, they probably aren't putting it out over the radio every time they make a stop....they just mark themselves out over the computers. Don't waste money on a "scanner" when a detector could help you that much more.

I lost of my first Camaro because some one ahead of me was going much slower than me and I ended up crashing my first baby(Camaro). Sure it was icey and the other person stopped on the interstate and sure my first Camaro was loaded 84 Z28 with a newer 350, but I learned that going a lot faster than the other cars on the road is just reckless.

I just wish everyone drove faster and speed limits where higher.
