Did you or the dealer install them initially? Kind of sounds like the surface where the tape sticks to was not clean enough. I have never had any issues with anything held on with the 3M tape if the surface was properly prepped.

Yeah my dealer did the install. I have a feeling they did not prep the surface good enough to allow the 3m double-sided tape to work properly.
Oh well, overall I'm much happier with the RPI Designs splash guards, so it all worked out in the end. |

The main thing is you are happy now. I was just wondering what could have you so down on them when I have had such good luck with two sets.

My gm splash guards are held on with fasteners, not just tape. Look nice.

Yes but if the tape does not hold they will look bad because they will move away from the bodywork. I know several had that problem. But as I said it has to do with the prep work. They do make a adheasion promoter to apply before installing 3m tape. It makes it almost impossible to get the tape off then.

Yea as said above you need to drill some holes to install them. I plan on removing mine in the future and replacing them with the ZL1 rock guards. Never liked how the GM ones look but I have to admit they have saved me from several rock chips

I bought factory GM splash guards for my car. Been on for over a year. I didn't put the screws into the rockers at first because I wasn't sure if I would like the splash guards. a year later, I like my guards but still havent put in the rear screws, LOL. They are holding on well with just the tape and front clips/screws. One day when I remember I will go ahead and finish the job finally. The surface just needs to be cleaned well. I wiped the area clean with detail spray, then isopropyl alcohol, the the pad that comes with the guards.
