troy to be honest with u when my dad and i first seen the concept camaro we didnt like it. see both my dad and i love the 69 body style and we have a 69 ss right now. over time the camaro grew on me cause i kept looking at it and eventuly fell in love. my dad on the other hand did not like it at all. to this day it has grow on him a bit but he doesnt like the front end at all. my dad personaly loves the challanger more than the camaro for the simple fact it looks excatly like the 70 challanger, and my dads been a camaro guy since the 60's!?!?!
i convinced my dad to go with the camaro b/c i know deep down he wants to get it.

I respect your opinion Troy, but I must remind you (though it has been stated before in this very thread) that the 5th gen was not intended to be like the mustang or the challenger. Who knows what the after market may hold for this car though. I am sure there will be enthusiast that will release front clip with more resemblance to the 1st gen.

And I think it should be added that a lot of people that have had lukewarm feelings about this car change their minds when they see the car in person. I love the car, and I still haven't seen the damn thing yet.

The only thing I think GM screwed up was waiting so long to greenlight it. The show car was an out of the park home run when it debuted, but it still took GM 8 months to decide if they wanted to build it. I'm glad they finally did greenlight it, but it shouldn't have taken so long.

Guess everyone can't be happy with the new car. As stated in this stream of posts, not everyone will be happy with this.

I also like the idea, that this is being treated with some respect of opinion instead of a stream of expletives.

I for one love the new styling, I like some of the retro cues in the car without being too dependent on old styling themes!

Bring it on I am ready to get my order in.

If I were interested in getting a 1969 Camaro, I would buy one. But I want a 2010 Camaro, as nice as the '69 is I'd rather have a new car over it. 40 year old styling was good for its time, but well it looks 40 years old now. I want a car that feels new, feels fresh, but will remind you of the history of the car. The new Camaro does that very well. Also, people will probably soon tire of the heavy retro influances that are seen in cars like the Challenger, HHR, and Mustang. Lastly, there are a good number of people in the target market who aren't thrilled by old muscle cars. These people drive cars such as the Evo. Very very few of them would buy a completely retro car, something that is modernized would be more appealing.

So, no I don't feel that GM screwed the Camaro up. I think there is a thread somewhere with a poll regarding how satisfied are you with the Camaro.

I couldn't have put it better. 40 year old styling is... 40 years old! LOL I, personally don't want a vehicle that looks like my parents drove it when they were young.

That, and the new Camaro is more mean looking than any other generation before it. 1st Gen's, for the most part, have always looked very sedate to me.

think this way. they are using common sense to get the styling and performance as best as possible. technology has changed. and also. the camaro is not a "RECREATION" or "REMAKE", its a whole new car with the styling BASED off the 69.

I really think the Camaro is the meanest looking car to come out of Detroit (Canada) in a long time. While i liked the Mustang when it came out, it really didnt STRIKE me like the Camaro did. From the first moment I saw it I have been working and scheming on how to get one. Houston all systems are a GO!!!!! Oct 19 2009!!!

The only mistake they made is not letting Pontiac get one. Other than that, the Camaro is perfect—no regrets when it comes out.

By that do you mean the re birth of the Trans am\ Firebird? If so.. I disagree completely.. It was a perfect decision not to. Reason being, With the Firebird and Camaro being released, it would create competition for the two. Plus their both GM so why compete with yourself.. Maybe in a few years to come it won't be so bad then. But so close together, na.

The mustangs are not designed after the 69/70 cars
Also, what would be the point of having two cars that look almost identical like you said in your later post?
I know everybody can have their own opinion, but I just don't understand your logic

They were already working on it before the 'official' announcement
They were even building the Camaro Convertible concept before they had the official announcement in August '06 at the Tech Center
