The rims look nice but the wheels look too big for the car; looks like a Matchbox toy. Too much rim, not enough tire. Drop them to a 20" and it would look pretty darned good; good color combination with the CGM.

You can get 21s from GM, so this is just a +1 sizing. These are my car show wheels, I'll have a few different sets for the car. Maybe some 18" drag wheels, and 20" road course wheels.
Which offsets? The *slightly* wrong ones. I like my wheels to tuck better out back. They will be redone. The car will get a full Pfadt suspension when it becomes available.

If the rim is wider than the tire it looks wrong to me; if the tire height is too low on a rim, it looks wrong to me; if the rim/tire combo crowds the wheel well, it looks wrong to me; if it's too small it looks wrong to me. It's an instinctive eyeballing-it kind of thing but sometimes even an inch or two can throw the look off; or fix it. I'd like to see pics of the car with those other wheel sizes on it once you get them; would be interesting to see the comparison.

For all the big wheel haters, here is a photo I just snapped to help illustrate why 22s fit the 2010 Camaro. The tires themselves are 3 inches taller than what you are used to seeing. 29" OEM tire vs a 26" 4th gen sized tire. This is an 18" CCW vs 20" 2010 wheel.
![]() Here is how an 18" wheel would look with the proper 29" tall tire:

Ooh, go with that one on the new Camaro instead....
![]() ![]() I actually don't mind the 22's and the short side walls too much. As others have already said, next mod should be a drop to kill that gap. Nice looking combo though.

By placing the 20" tire closer to the camera you've overly-dramatized the difference. The rim is only 2 inches bigger but in your photo it looks like about 8 inches bigger so the rim to tire ratio of your photoshop image is waaay off.
Here's an image of the same height tire with a 20" rim size (the gray area) and an 18" rim (the white lines). It's nowhere near as big a sidewall difference as your mock-up indicated.

![]() Either way, I would never put 18" wheels on the new camaro, and I would never put 20" wheels on a 1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen

But going back to my original point was that overly large wheels on a car don't look balanced to me. Too much rim and it starts to look like a circus wagon on wagon wheels. And it depends on the car as to how big a wheel you can put on it before the circus effect starts to happen. Just my 2Ē; your mileage may vary

It wasn't meant as an illusion. You are definitely being anal here. Diagrams? LOL! It was just a quick photo for nothing else but simple illustration purposes. I'll snap a side by side photo of a 4th gen 17, C6 18, and the 2010 20 side by side for everyone. That way you can put your conspiracy theories and anal-ness away.
![]() Yes, I realize the skewed aspect ratio now, but it wasn't intentional.

As promised, here is a side by side shot of three OEM GM wheels.
17" Firehawk Firebird wheel with 26" tire 18" Z06 wheel with 26" tire 20" SS wheel with 29" tire As you can plainly see, the Camaro tire is still huge. That was the only point I was trying to make. A 19" wheel in a 26" tire has about the same sidewall as a 22" in a 29" tire. About 3.5" of sidewall height for each combo.

![]() Well now I understand what you were saying; I misunderstood your point. It wasn't clear before you were talking about sidewall ratio. Yes that's absolutely true, no question about ratios of tire sidewall size. If you stuck that 4th gen wheel in a 5th gen it would look stupid because the 5th gen is designed for the bigger wheel. If you tried to stick the 5th gen wheel in a 4th gen it wouldn't fit because it wasn't designed to take that size wheel. What "looks right" depends largely on the car and wheel well design. The stock 20" rim/tire combo looks good on the 5th Gen Camaro because it was designed for that size. It's purely a visual balance thing. Going 22 and up does not look good to me but not just because the tire sidewall ratio to rim size drops. While I'm not a big fan of the rubber band around a huge rim look anyways, beyond that the ratio of the visual size of the rim in the wheel well (regardless of tire) starts to look too big because it was designed for a 20. The less tire visible, the more it starts to look like a wagon wheel. I don't know, maybe people think tires are ugly or something; I don't. I actually think tires can look pretty cool, especially if they have a good looking tread pattern. At any rate, to each his own. Get what you like; if you like 24's stuffed in there then it's your car and your money... that's what freedom of choice is about. If we all looked the same it would be pretty boring. Thanks for taking the time to make and post the pics btw. If you're going to do those other rim sizes you were talking about, post those pics too; it's always good to see different sizes and choices.
