Forced induction also skews the way a car is perceived - F.I. adds a sense of additional cost, complexity, and front end weight, with an accompanying need to drive it a little differently. As good as the ZL1 is at cornering, it's still a "point and shoot" kind of car relative to either the 1LE or Z/28, which are the "momentum cars" in this comparison. Norm |

Ss compared to a z/28 is naturally aspirated compared to naturally aspirated, if you want to compare the z/28 to the zl1 then supercharge the z/28 and then compare

It looks more impressive comparing the Z/28 to the SS. It's all about how to generate more money.

It also could be possible that the ZL1 can do some things better than the Z/28.

Seeing that the Z/28 is road-course oriented, one would be in the 1320 ft. range, and the other would be in ride quality and DD drivability.

But if you compare the ZL1 to the Z/28 the ZL1 had higher top speeds, so the corners is where the Z/28 wins.

It also holds speed better going into the corner (less weight and braking) and gets power down faster coming out (less weight and gearing).

Forgot about daily driving capability. I do hope magnetic ride is an option in the sixth gen.

I think it is for marketing reasons. There are more SS owners that can relate the comparison to Z/28. Also makes it justifiable to be so exspensive seeing it perform so mun more vs SS.

The Z/28 is only 4 seconds faster than the ZL1 around the Nurburgring. To me, that is marginally better. I would not give up the creature comforts of my ZL1 for those 4 seconds. This car is for the real hardcore racers among us.

4 seconds doesn't really tell the story. Given the differing weather conditions (favoring the ZL1) plus the ZL1's significantly higher top speed down that long straight (14 mph), it's pretty impressive that the Z/28 held on to that much.
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/show...&postcount=319 There are (or at least were) videos floating around for when Z/28 rides were given to various members of the media. At 8/10ths driving rather than chasing hero lap times. Norm |

In reality the Z/28 is closer to 7:30 around the ring in conditions like the ZL1 experienced. Yes it is much more hardcore than the ZL1. You gotta love it because it's not built for touring.
