As far as the stock fuel system components nothing needs to be changed to run e85.

You will need a tune, we use hptuners.

On a stock SS fuel pump and e85 we have done 500whp and thats just were we stopped. I can not answer how much further it will go.

Stock injectors will work for a stock engine and e85. After that we have never had a problem with Injector Dynamics and e85.

You can install a Flex Fuel sensor and have it run gasoline or e85 or any combinations of either.

My personal 2013 Camaro 1LE will always run e85.
I feel like this is a dumb question, but better ask anyways. Are you getting 500hp on e85 with NO mods? Just a tune for the fuel

It has far more to do with diverted land that would have been used for food production. Also, humans do not eat the same corn type used in the mass production of ethanol. Yes you can use only waste products from food sources but thats not how the big producers operate and they have lower energy returns than kernel based production.

Yes ethanol can be made out of many things... sugar cane. ..beets..corn stalks and corn cobs. Plain old yellow corn is currently the cheapest thing to make it out of. Also the by product of ethanol production is sold to many animal farmers for feed for their animals. I agree its most likely not a a permanent solution, but its a huge step in the right direction. It would be a travesty if ethonal was just drove down into the ground. We need to embrace it and continue explore renewable fuels. Untill something else comes along ethonal is a great fuel additive or main fuel source.

Totally agree. If the subsidies going to corn went to ANY crop used for ethanol production then we'd be getting somewhere.

In my area we have 2 ethanol plants in a 20 mile radius from our farm. They are major corn buyers around 2.5 million bushels of corn between the 2 of them I would estimate.

The subsidies go to the ethanol plants...and currently those plants use corn. If those plants use another crop wouldn't we switch from corn to that crop.... if we can grow it. I am definitely interested in growing more corn per acre than just putting more acers in production.

Anyone run native e85?

Do not make me close this thread. As of this post, you are limiting this discussion to whether the stock Camaro V6 or V8 can handle ethanol and what would be needed for that to work.

My understanding is all current gm designs are e85 compatible...materials wise.
And FYI, slow turtle was right...ethanol corn is not food corn.

I have been tuning cars on E85 for about 5 years now. I have never once encountered any issues with its use with hoses etc. The stuff is amazing to say the least its basically race gas for 3/gallon out here in Cali. Burns super clean no carbon deposits in your engine after 30k miles piston tops will still be shining. it is the only fuel i will run in my race car, i have forgot to turn my fans on before going out to the track and in line ups and running hot laps drifting never went over 180 degrees. i'm sold on it, if you aren't you are missing out.

That's good to hear.

Would anyone know the part number for the flex fuel sensor?

There are only like 2 stations in the whole county I live in that sell e85. That's the main reason why I've never tried it.

Contact Dave at DSX Tuning, he can tell you the pin out to connect the sensor to or provide the kit. You will have to add a pin to the E38 ECU connector, it's blank. DSteck on HPT Forums. Here's the 5 page thread...

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...ight=flex+fuel

Since I run full E85 all the time I never bothered, just programmed the ECU for E85 only.
