I know you can turn the auto lock off with the 2010's in the radio settings.

Double pull is actually a mechanical feature in the latch mechanism. When you don't have a lock knob or button it is handy way to unlock the door as opposed to electrically unlocking the door with the button or the fob.
BTW, Ford has had this feature for years.

If you lock the doors from the inside you actually have to PULL UP on the button near the window to unlock the door, as it disables the door handle completely!  Not only that, but if you want to lock the door when you get out, you either have to A.) close the door and use the key or B.) push the lock button down, squeeze the door handle trigger, close the door, then release the door handle trigger. If you don't hold the trigger down, the button pops back up and unlocks when you shut the door.  When anyone new rides with me in the Beetle and has to get out and lock the door, it's easier just to do it for them than try to explain it.
