You will never get a dealer to change any of the factory parameters in your cars computer.
Just ain't gonna happen.

If you want to put lower speed rated tires on your factory SS, that is on your shoulders. YOU changed your car, and GM can't be held responsible for that.

In the same way, if you have a dealer put higher speed rated tires on your car, they will still NOT change the factory parameters of the computer.
That would put the liability on their shoulders, and they are not going to do it.

I don't know of a tire that would fit that the stock RS/SS wheels that would not be speed rated to 155mph. Even Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires have a W speed rating that's 168mph.

I'm sure someone could find a dealer out there that would do this for them, but at what cost? The wheels, tires, and computer upgrades would cost more than the difference in price from a LS to a LT I'm sure. Seems like it would be diminishing returns for someone that took the cheap way out in their purchase to begin with....

I believe that the issue is that they know that the tune has been changed because of a checksum. They do not know what you changed. Sure, it may have just been the speed limiter, but it could also have been timing or mixture settings that could actually damage the engine.

Also, I believe that the system is set up with a count of how many times the tune has been changed. So if you set up a tune that harms your car, and then return it to stock tune, they will still see that it was modified and they won't be responsible for the consequences.

Chances are, if you're in a position where you need your LT to go faster than 118, you will have already made significant modifications to it anyway, rendering any warranty issue pointless.

I mean, the LT is the same exact car as the 1LT,2LT....correct?
There is one way...MAYBE. If you get the dealership to install the correct tires and wheels, they MAY be willing to flash the correct calibration from GM. I know back in 04 when I bought my Silverado, Chevy had an upgraded wheel/tire set that also came with a new calibration for the new tire size.

better change the brakes too if GM would ever do it. I dont think the factory brakes LT will do much to slow you down at 155 or GM didnt test them going that fast
