Not really, that just means I don't the credit yet. I do have the money for the down payments, and I can afford the monthly payments.

Go back to the very first reply I did for you. Buy a used car and establish your credit. Not trying to be mean but to help. Good luck.

I know things are alot differant today ,but when I was your age buying my first car I didn't buy a $35,000 right out of the gate. I think what the previous post meant buy starting with a used car you can probably get your own loan and start to build your credit up. I know I wouldn't have placed that kind of bured on my grandparents just for a car I really don't need. I know you say it will not affect her but If something happens and you can't pay for it she's left to deal with it. Most older people worry alot as it is.
Sometimes just because she is willing you have to be the bigger man an say "No, it's not a good Idea but thanks grandma."

I had a used car before this, with a $207 a month payment. I paid it off and sold it, but I made the payment on time every single month, never missed one.

With the amount I have as a down-payment, my payment will be $319 per month. I'm getting a V6, not a V8. And now that I have a better-paying job, I can afford $100 more a month. I don't have any other bills.

Oh, and I didn't ask for your honest opinion on whether I could afford the car or not. Thanks anyway though.

Here's what doesn't add up If you already bought a car and had a loan in your name then you have a credit history. Their has to be some reason that the banks are not willing to take a chance on you. When I bought my first car my dad co-signed for $4,000. I kept that car ,paid the insurance in my name and paid it off. I never had a co-signer or never not gotten a loan I want ever since. Bottom line is you want someone on here to tell you it's a good idea and it really isn't.

College anyone? Spend your money on education, not a car. At your age its ignorant to purchase a brand new vehicle.

I had that car last year, and it was in my Mom's name. What makes you think I could have gotten a loan at 17/18 and not 19?

I don't care who thinks it's a good idea, and who thinks it's a bad idea. I posted a simple question asking about the title for the car. Not financial advice, Suze Orman.

I have scholarships, financial aid, and student loans for that.

Jeez people, give the guy a break. He was only trying to find the answer to a question, not looking for a dozen people that don't know him to give him a lecture on his financial well-being.

If you can afford a Camaro while going to college, more power to ya!

Loans need to be paid back. And if you are on Financial Aid, you really cant afford it.

At 19, I had no credit history and bought an almost-new car for $12,000 (co-signed by my dad). The economy was better back then, though...

Paying it off every month is why you have a lack of credit history. Let them make some interest on you, show that you can borrow now and pay back later; then they'll believe that you can borrow bigger now and pay back later (and that they'll make money).
