I always had the backfire, but after headers and a cat delete, it became unbearable. I tuned it out, no more pop pop-pop pop.

Tuned, not "turned". The pop occurs due to fuel cutoff on deceleration. I had the programming that commands that operation changed. The downside is that the MPGs are a bit lower. It was well worth it to me to make that racket go away.

I have a complete exhaust (long tube headers, high flow cats, 3" pipe) and I recently punched out the cats. I only noticed a slight change in sound, a bit louder. I have had the deceleration popping from the day that I bought it. As some have stated, it drives them nuts, however, I love it. It reminds me of how old muscle-cars would sound when you were downshifting and using a lot of compression braking. AWESOME!!!
I have ordered another set of HF cats to keep on the shelf for use, if and when I ever need to pass an emissions check. Currently, my area just plugs into the OBDII port and evaluates whether you have any emission related codes activated.

I was under the impression you couldn't get that popping sound with the V6. Maybe I was thinking Manual vs Auto.

I am one of those people who are not a fan of the popping sound.

You can, just depends on which exhaust you have. My V1's for instance had a lot of decel pop before the headers, after the headers, there was a little more.

Once i gutted the cats that also minimally increased the popping as well, But the supercharger takes the cake. Arno @ IPF told me when the addition of the SC plus NO cats will backfire very loudly but is ok and normal. Scares the Sh!T out of people

I never heard a V6 pop before. Heard it many times on a V8, but I don't know many people with a V6 (other than you folks online)

Except when the officer stands behind your car and can smell the exhaust.
