my service manager at our caddy dealer where i bought the camaro already read me the riot act. he found out from sales about my blower, and wants no part of it. doesnt even want to be paid for the install. we have no mag-moss act here in canada, and really i feel its partially up to the service manager to play ball, and up to the consumer to not to try and pass of bogus warranty. be honest, and maybe they can help you. maybe not.
with the camaro, i want corsa exh, gmpp intake, ar headers, and a maggie.
the car will be driven stock until i am satisfied it isnt a lemon, or other weak parts right out of the gate. this way i dont have to fight over early repairs. then i mod safely, without looking for the sweet spot. 500 hp with 6 lbs boost will be enough power, but likely not enought to destryoy cars systems. i am just leaving to go write a check for the balance on the car, and plan on buying 0 deductable warranty til 80,000 kms. the car has many systems other than powertrain that need warranty, and i fully expect gm to honor the rest of the car. if i pop a diff, snap a half shaft, or other torque related matters, i will accept the repair bill.

you need to tune to take advantage of these mods, which breaks warranty.
if you want warranty, leave it alone.

You need to read the warranty statement relating to the parts you wish to install from GM Performance Parts. That statement can be found in the GM Performance Parts catalogue or at www.gmperformanceparts.com

I have been told that the parts that I listed above qualify. Now the heads and cam from GM Performance Parts that I have installed do not.

Hope this helps

Robin,

Would there be a warranty concern be if my dealer installs the Corsas in the following link from MG Parts? Thanks!

I'm interested in the SLP LoudMouth II. I see a lot of questions going back and forth, but no definite answers...

You shouldn't be worried at all with just a catback or axle back exhaust. I've never had a warranty issue of any kind from having a catback exhaust.

In a few years, a large percentage of the Camaro SS's will be modded with headers, intake, and exhaust. Most dealerships will work with these owners on most warranty related issues (within reason).

On the topic of GM performance parts. Unless they come out with a supercharger, the GM parts aren't going to offer much HP. The GM intake (joke from what I've been hearing), shorties, and exhaust will only make limited HP, especially with the stock tuning. The car will need to be tuned for these mods to make any decent gains.

There's basically two paths.
1. Keep warranty and don't do anything that could affect it (hp limited).
2. Mod the car they way you want it and take your chances (hp unlimited).

I've always chose path # 2, because I've never been satisfied with my car's stock performance. And I just love to mod my cars and have fun with them.

I installed the SLP Loudmouth 1 axel-back kit on my 1SS and talked with my buddy, who is the service manager at my dealership, he said that it would not affect the factory warranty. So, if you want to do the Loudmouth 2, you're good. Pretty much, if you add a mod i.e. LT headers, tune, or engine mods, you're car is going to set an electronic foot print and GM will be able to recognize that i.e. "check engine light."

They have to prove that it caused the problem.
Example... you put on a supercharger and to break an axle they can say that because there is so much more horsepower it is what caused the failure.

I've had so many modified cars and anytime i've had a warranty issue just mentioning the moss-magnuson warranty act has gotten to fix it every time but once and it was a front wheel drive VW that we supercharged... snapped the axle after about 6months.

I was asking the service manager over at Atlantic Chevrolet in Bayshore, NY about a cat-back exhaust, what I was told was that if it was not a GMPP exhaust and was not installed by the dealer, that if say I had a blown motor for example, they may not cover it because there is the possibility that somehow the exhaust may have caused an issue. Made me think twice about buying the car because I want to get the car and have it sound the way I want without getting ripped off on a cat back exhaust or worrying about voiding my warranty.
