Not too thrilled with film protection so looking at rock guards.

Do you get front and back?

Which are the best ones?

I don't want to modify (drill holes) or otherwise scratch the car - do any just use existing factory bolts?
It comes stock with some black extended plastic in the rear wheels that protects the bottom quarters of the rear. I have the RPI ones for the front. But I didn't use the clips they provide. You use the two screws on the bottom and then use 3M double sided automotive trim tape (level 2) to run a bead of tape down the lip of the fender then press the rock guard into it.

I prepped the fender lip by rubbing down 3-4 times with 99% rubbing alcohol and then prepped the part of the guard that would be contacting the tape the same way. over a year and still holding strong.

You get what you pay for and if you don't run any you'll be repainting your gills in a year or so.

I just received my set and agree that the fronts will be secured with 3M tape when I install them tomorrow.

I've 2 issues with those clips:
1) They aren't stainless so will eventually begin to rust.
2) Those fangs will dig into the rear of the fender lip causing the paint/primer to be scratched and/or chipped off leading to a potential area for rust to begin.

Not sure what these folks were thinking when they developed this kit and threw in those clips.

The clips provide a quick, easy and secure method for attaching the flaps.
it's up to you to decide whether to use them or not. Many will, some won't for the very reason you stated. can't please everyone.

It you'd like to go the clip route but are still concerned with the rust potential, just cover the clip where it bite into the metal with a dab of silicone. That should seal it and keep out any moisture that would contribute to rust.
Again another quick and easy method.

if you'd rather avoid the clips, and use something like the three-M tape, that works as well.

Doesn't mean the people that developed the kit were idiots.

I used the clip without scratching by putting the clip on and then slipping the guard underneath after. In other words put the toothed side of the clip inside the fender loose (without the guard) and then slip the guard between the fender and clip. That way the clip does not have to be dragged across the fender surface

I'd add a picture but mine is getting Xpel put on and I won't get it back until tomorrow night

i took a flathead screwdriver and put it in the clip and turned the screwdriver sideways to extend clip out alittle and then slid it on that way. worked great.

Just did mine. Used 3 m tape following direction on back of tape packaging to prep surface. Easy install. They look OEM.

I installed with 3M tape which also allowed me to tuck the top in a bit for a more flush install with the edge of the fender. Nice and secure.

I never said the people who developed the kits were idiots. It may be quick and easy, but supplying a non-stainless clip which itself will rust over time simply doesn't make sense. Maybe the majority of Camaro owners who buy this kit don't care, but not for me. Glad the 3M tape worked flawlessly.

I agree for the price of the kit and the type of car it is, clip does not make sense.

Did anyone using the 3M tape have the RPI Designs flaps fill with stones under the screws yet?
If not, did you apply the 3M tape under the screws?

Thanks
