OP, you just have to be more aware. It's possible to have a little fun in these cars without affecting others and without getting tickets. I do it all the time.
But I only have a V6.

I find it frustrating to have a fast car and not be able to go fast. Where I live there are cops everywhere so speeding is rarely an option.

Got pulled over once the day after I got my Camaro on a deserted back road and the cop was very cool. He loved my car, asked a million questions about it, and told me where to go up the freeway to have a little fun with the car as there are never cops there. I haven't been up that way yet.

Yeah we all have done it....the key is to scan the area. Personally I seldom speed, I may take off briskly occaisionally until I get to the speed limit. And if it is over the limit I never hold it there I will quickly bring down to the limit. One example is entering ramps to the hiway, just step into quickly to avoid traffic coming at you, thats a ligitimate reason to speed.

Amen. People on this forum love to judge and talk $hit.
I posted a thread a while back on how to avoid getting a ticket once you have been pulled over. As a former LEO, there are certian things you can do to minimize your chances of getting a ticket or to possibly get a reduced fine.

The local police and GSP up here know me and just flash the blues to tell me to slow down. LOL

I normally use cruise control to avoid driving to fast by accident. There are the times you are playing and you know you are going way to fast. I have had my heart drop down into my stomach on more than one occasion when I passed a cop. I have just been lucky that they always seem to have something more important to attend to.

Well I respect your nuckin futs opinion, but slamming a shifter is much more fun that tapping a button, IMO. That was one thing I thought my G8 had over the Camaro was the fact that even though it too was an automatic I could at least hit the shifter to shift the gears. Besides, even with the nannies off you have more freedom to play with the engine the way you want via the clutch (I know not good for clutch life among other components) instead of hitting the gas and hoping that the computer allows you to be at stupid as you care to be.

Situational awareness. There is a time and a place when to have some fun. When I was young I had some ticket problems, when you have 1 another seems to follow close behind. Don't be the fastest on the road and be aware. Look ahead, way ahead and way back and you will learn to smell the bacon. No radar here and few tickets although I did get pulled over just before hibernating the car for winter. Getting onto the highway, I busted a quick move to get the wide open space ahead. Saw the trooper way back and slowed it down without braking only to get a warning.
