I'm not even going to try anymore with them.

Note that my ZL1 shifts like butter through every gear at any RPM. *sigh*

Sorry to thread jack, OP. We share the same issue only I've been dealing with mine for 3 years now. I'm a tad bitter.
The ZL1 twin has much better release characteristics than the LS7 single that is used in the SS setups...

Put the car on flat ground, place it in first and with the clutch in rev the car to 5,000 rpm plus, if the car starts to creep forward it's the clutch not releasing...

Thanks for the input Steve. I will also try this soon. On a side note, have you heard any pros or cons about adding the additional reservoir kit?

It helps bleeding and keeps the contaminated fluid from getting in the brake system. Other than that, it's not going to help the holding capacity for a clutch. The release it will help some from the previously mentioned bleeding, that's about it.

I held the RPMs at 5 grand for about 10 seconds. The car didn't move at all.

Then the clutch is releasing and more than likely it's a transmission issue.

Is it just third under hard acceleration? Have you tried 2nd or fourth at hard acceleration?

**In Mexico of course**

Yes, it is 3rd only. All other gears work like any other TR6060. By that I mean I get a notchy shift here and there but no brick walls and/or grinds. The one funny thing is that 2nd gear shifts smoother under hard acceleration than it does when casually driving. lol.

I too have been driving sticks for a long time, not 25 years but at least 20 and i had this same problem with my 1SS when i first got it, and about 6 months after...its embarrassing and frustrating

I have a Hurst short throw shifter and my gears are a lot closer together now...of course its a short shifter lol...anyway point is i am now extra careful when i shift so i don't get "rejected" my nature in shifting when driving hard ***in Mexico***is to jam the gearshift. i have found that if i just take it easy a little this happens less....still happens just happens less.

My question is this...Will replacing my clutch get rid of this? i am asking this to those that have replaced there clutch with better one, not OEM. seems to me that this is more of an issue with the synchronize'rs then a clutch one. but soon as i bolt on my SC, ill be changing my clutch anyway so i guess ill have my answer that day if nobody else has any input on that question.

thanks

I've spoken to transmission shops, clutch specialists, high end restoration shops that specialize in LS based setups...all of them are in general agreement that the issue rests in the transmission. All roads lead to 4 grand out of pocket to fix it.

They dismantle the transmission and then modify/replace internal components. They also polish certain internal parts, etc. The end result is a butter smooth TR6060.

There are several vendors on this site who promote the service. RPM Transmissions is one of the vendors.
