I don't know. It looks to me that the problem is really people that don't know what to do and panic. Yes there is definitely a problem with a switch that when you have 5000 keys and keychains on your key ring it could cause the car to turn itself off. Yes you will no longer have power assist and yes the airbags will be turned off, but the car can still be steered (and if it's going fast enough for the airbags to deploy it won't be that hard) and it can still be stopped but will require more effort.

I think they failed to take care of the issue sooner because the danger it creates is no more dangerous then if the engine simply ran out of gas or broke down with the exception that in this case, should there be an accident, the airbags wouldn't deploy.

They will take a huge hit for this in every way. Which sucks because they were starting to come back and this will set things back quite a bit I'm sure.

Their best hope is to make things right and continue to make great, safe cars like the Camaro.

I agree, but what does that say for the 2014 refresh camaro?

the new mustang will sell without any issues. this board is really the minority of buyers. half the buyers of mustangs are women.

I'm not surprised by Dodge. Their cars and trucks have a lot of issues - more than the average vehicle should have. It's a shame, too. The Challenger is a good-looking car.

I think the new Mustang will do very well once it out and the Camaro numbers will look low but still strong. Lets face it Mustang owners are going to buy the new Mustang and the numbers will jump past the Camaro, nothing wrong with that. i think its good that the numbers for both are close, it keeps GM and Ford looking for ways to improve the vehicles and we all benifit.

Dodge trucks don't have any more issues than any other truck build. I also have a 2012 Grand Cherokee that has been flawless. I don't know about there cars , but I'm sure they are not bad too. Have you read these forums much? Our cars have had their share of problems for sure. I started off with a lemon until I now got a good one.

This is probably the case with almost all newly designed vehicles for the last five years or so. New parts and manufacturing techniques combined with 869875 onboard sensors means that the car makers can get really good testing in before the new model goes live. Yes every now and then a company will have an issue that effects a small number of their cars but for the most part the 12+ million cars sold every year will be pretty reliable.

Willing to make a bet on that? From everything I've seen/read, the 2015 is an all-around better car than the one it is replacing. Back when the "new edge" refresh came out on the Mustang in 1999, word was that the sharper angles of the design would kill sales. Didn't happen. In fact, sales were strong and with the release of the '03-04 Cobras and Mach1's, and the performance available from those cars tended to overcome the styling issues many had with the '99-04 cars.

The new Mustang will be the best performing pony out of Dearborn ever, so I would count on bad sales because a few people are commenting on the styling versus the outgoing model. Time will tell, but I'll bet I'm right on my forecast.

Disagree about "big time down numbers."

The gen 6 Mustang, relative to S197 (a very good handling car), retains the 107" wb. The front track is increased by 50mm, the rear track is increased by 70mm (think about that!). The 2015 has a lower center of gravity and a lower roll center. The front McPhearson struts are a new design version a cut above anything previous and anything period. Couple that with EPS the '15 stang will handle BMW M3 class or better. The rear IRS looks to be built Ford truck tough. Get under a Camaro and observe the stamped sheet metal-non adjustable controls arms, they remind me of a lawn chair. The chassis, gross weight, suspension, brakes, track, F/R weight distribution, and EPS are all better than S197. This may be the best handling car Ford has ever produced. The gen 6 features second generation Coyote 5.0L V8-more power-more economy. Forget about styling minutia. This new Mustang is about driving. I think it will be the best production performing Ford ever. It will rewrite the legend. It will out sell the '14.

I believe what you say but I have to be attracted to it and the 2015 for me is just not good looking enough to buy one. Looks are important.
