Thanks everyone!

Wow! I almost felt like I was cheating on my wife last night! LOL

History... Before the wife and kids, I owned a midnight blue 2005 GTO. I had Stainless Works exhaust and a Lingenfelter head/cam package. Ran mid 11's in the 1/4 mile. Long before the GTO I fell in love with the '69 Camaro SS. This wasn't a glancing, wow that's cool, it was a full on "I'm gonna' have one of those someday!". Years later, the Camaro was discontinued and never really fell in love with the newer body styles. I started hearing rumors of the Camaro being brought back and saw some early renderings. I really liked the retro look. It had that old style look with modern power and tech, but thought, nah, they'll never do it. I never really feel like what you see is what you get. What they do to make the car look AWESOME for the car shows doesn't seem to be the look you drive off the lot with. I had confidence in the power, not the looks. Ultimately I wrote off the Camaro...until...I saw the first one in town. *JAW DROP* "I gotta' have it!". I sold the GTO and started saving money to put down on the Camaro. Then, I met my beautiful wife and 6 years later we have 2 wonderful children. Never thought I'd see the day come so soon. I'd been playing around with the idea of getting my wife out of her Civic and into an SUV so that it was easier for us to haul the kids around. I played with the idea of getting a Camaro, but never really thought it was ultimately going to happen. I am, however, persistent. Where there's a will, there's a way. With the Help of Brandon K at Summit City Chevrolet, he spent the last 2 weeks helping me decide on the right SUV and beating down doors to find my Camaro. Thank you Brandon! So, I'm sitting here writing this and am still a little mystified that I have the car I've always wanted. I didn't get my '69 Camaro SS, but being a tech/gadget guy, I'll take this car hands down! I don't love things, I don't 'LOVE' this car, but I've been able to obtain what I enjoy most. I enjoy cars, and that enjoyment of cars is what I've always shared with my Father. I grew up going to the Indy time trials and seeing the Corvette's pace the field. I hope to be able to share that with my Son as he gets older.

The pick up... Wife met me at the dealership to swap the cars out. We're in the staging garage. I've already told my Son I was going to give him the first ride in the car. At 4, I don't think he really gets what's going on yet. The 2 vehicles are on opposite ends of the 3 car staging garage with a big black pickup truck seperating/hiding the car. My son sneaks off and I hear him scream from the other side...DADDY! Is that your car?! YEEESSSS! Almost brought a tear to my eye, even now thinking about it. For all of you that grew up enjoying a hobby with your Father and being able to continue that with your Son, I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about. I put in the car seat, anchored it down, and soon after, we headed out. From the back seat I heard my Son ask if the car was fast. I told him it's fast enough. As I entered the exit ramp to get on the highway I kicked it a little and in the mirror I saw a big smile come over my Son's face. He's hooked! I remember the great times I've had with my Father attending Rolex, NHRA, and other racing events sponsored by GM, riding a lap at Mid Ohio and getting to let my Dad drive one year. Those are the memories I hope to share with my Son. If he wants to do something else, that's fine. We still have to get there somehow!!!

Thank you to the entire Camaro build team!

Loved the part about your 4 year old's reaction.

My wife brought my 3 kids up to VIR 2 weeks ago during the HPDE to look around.

When we did the parade laps at lunch time, I first took the 3 kids out for a lap (I have a 16 year old Son, a 15year old daughter and an 8 year old Son).

When we got back to the paddock for the kids to get out and Mom to get in, the 8 year old did NOT want to get out. He wanted to go around again. Even though we were limited to 60mph for the parade laps, he didn't care. He loved it.

So, I think I have a future track person as well. It is awesome watching them smile while going around the track.

My dealer found mine on another lot and trailored it back. I discussed the possibility of having to order but they said they didn't have that option right now. They either had no allocations left or they aren't taking any new orders.

I'm in the Georgetown Square area. My old boss drives a white ZL1. He lives up around Dupont area. You've probably had more of a chance of seeing him, as I'm not up that way often.

Glad to hear of other 1LE owners in town. I have yet to see another. Only other non-standard SS/v6 I've seen is the black ZL1 driving up Maplecrest road a couple times last fall.

I can't wait to do this with my Son. I think my wife might enjoy it as well, but she's not as enthusiastic about cars as I am. =)

When I had my GTO we attended a lot of events, specifically Mid Ohio. I'm hoping that GM still invites drivers and their cars for some of those races. I'd love to meet other Camaro owners and share stories.

Aight man thanks!
I had The option to go with red or black
But they didn't had the recaro seats & npp exhaust
The red one had sunroof an I wasn't looking for that
So my dealer end up ordering mine
Summit white with everything but sunroof & Navegation

Originally I wanted black with NPP and RS. No nav, sunroof or recaros. There was basically nothing within a 500 mile area unless I got sunroof and/or recaros. I opened up to red hot (which has REALLY grown on me!) and the dealer finally found several but had nav and recaros. I ended up taking it because, like I said in previous post, they couldn't order anymore. I'm very happy with the color. So far, the only color I haven't seen is magenta...and...well....I picture that in a YouTube video with gold inlays and 24" rims. Nothing I would want to desecrate a Camaro with.
