I couldn't agree more. These days people don't/can't do anything unless a machine tells them to.

I was at Dunkin Donuts the other day. The girl enters the amount of my order $5.04 and the $20 bill I handed her to pay with. However the machine didn't display the amount she needed to give me back. She looked confused, even called over the manager. At this point you can hear the 'sigh's" and mumbles of people behind me. I look at the casher and manger and say $14.96 is what you owe me. They looked confused and said "are you sure"? I stated "I am F@*king positive"!

That is so sad. I remember the old registers required you to still do the math in your head once it was opened. Rise of the machines!

Went into store, ordered a half dozen sausages.

First I got 4. "No I said a half dozen"
Then I got 5. I caught on at that point.
Give me six sausages please.
