[QU OTE=Emvici;7704042]I met with David, the person who was going to put the superchiller kit together for me in Mid March. We talked and he thought all he needed was 2 weeks. I was patiently waited but unfortuantely family issues piled up for him. Well I got my car back from powertech performance about an hour ago. For starters I had put in Pulstar spark plugs in my car about 4 months ago. $16 a plug. According to powertech, they could not tune the car with those plugs, so that had to replace them with a BR7EF plug, gapped to .032. The work they did looks and appears to be excellent, the car sounds great. The person who did the tune spent about 4 hours on it dialing in the id850's and every other setting. it now redlines at 6700. I really haven't driven the car because I picked it up about 5pm at rush hour, but I plan to go out after I finish this post. The tuner tells me I picked up about 50 hp. I didn't get a print out of the dyno tune, distracted I guess. I will call the shop tomorrow and see if they have it. So for the modest upgrades I had done Id850's, upper pulley with adapter, solid isolator, belt, and d3 reservoir and tune, to get 50 hp is ok I guess ? the tuner said its best pull was 515. opinions strongly welcomed.[/QUOTE]

Are you sure he didn't say 615 at the wheels? Cause that's about what it should have.

Just got back in from driving it, The car is running nice, smooth at idle, and I love that the rev limitor is now at 6700, it just was too restrictive at 6200. I was surprised to see the boost gauge pin at 15 psi. The car pulls nice, and there is a noticeable improvement, but I would Not say it is night and day. The only bummer is the speed limitor is still in place at 155. Can the speed limitor be removed ? Did the guy doing the tune over look this?.
Also he could have said 615, I am going to stop by the shop tomorrow and speak with him about getting the graph. This is a 6 sp M car.

With those mods it wont pull 615 whp. 515 is much more like it. Not on Joes dyno. I saw what cars were putting down last week at Powertechs dyno day and Im sure Phil, the tuner is right at 515. I know dynos are all different and can say what you want them to say, why they are just a tuning tool.

I think, 515 rwhp sounds about right too, maybe a little low. it would mean I got about 35hp out of the deal. not 50 as I first thought. but basically its just a pulley upgrade, because injectors don't do anything to boost hp, injectors just support it. also phil is gone from the mix now, the new tuner is a guy named Josh.

Bummer speed limiter was left in tact, wonder how he over looked that?. Anyone know what the average Stock rwhp is on these ZL1?. I am trying to make myself feel better about spending 2600.00 lol

Bottom line, if you only picked up 35 rwhp going from the stock pulley to a 2.55 upper and a tune, somethings not right. Search around on this site at some of the before and after numbers for the same mods you added.
With just a 8.6 lower, LT with cats and a CAI, I picked up 60 rwhp.

You didn't mention LT's. That's gonna hurt your numbers some. All three of the Tuners I talked to about putting a 9.55 lower pulley on my car stated that at that boost, level I must have LT's on the car to make any real power.

Just brought the car back to the tuner this morning, he shut off the speed limiter for me, and I will say the car sounds and seems to run great!. What are Lt's Long tube headers??. So yeah I didn't get too much done to the car. break down is

id850 - 920.00
upper 2.55 - 100.00
pulley adapter 100.00
solid isolator- 55.00
belt - 80.00
d3 reservoir (installation and fluid only) 125.00
dyno tune 500.00
labor 770.00
------------------------------------------------------
total 2650.00

I am very happy with the work they did, I am not sure if I paid the right amount, but I am very happy with the work. The owner (Joe) strikes me as very genuine, honest and caring about his customers satisfaction. His employees seem dedicated too. So I not sure if I got my moneys worth or .. I am not sure what the car is even making for hp lol, but I can say that it is giving my 15 psi on the boost gauge, when before it was only giving my maybe 10-11.

Most manual ZL1's dyno around 480-500 stock. Do you not even have a CAI? That alone will net you 30+- HP. Also get you a ported TB $150 for easy HP. 515 sounds really low for a 2.5 pulley, that's 18% overdriven. I would expect at least 550-575. I know LT's are leaving a little on the table but not too much. To me it sounds like that tune is not right. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined you could have easily installed everything and just had a tune done and saved a good bit of money.

Also I have a phastek catch can, and after speaking with Joe, from powertech, I went home and ordered and apex catch can. I should have the new catch can Friday or Monday. Powertech's "can" was 500.00 and was just a little too pricey for me. I believe this apex can should be fine for the 189.00. gee whiz lol )
$500 for a catch can? Is it made of platinum? This guy is ripping you off! You should have gone to FSP. One of the greatest tuners around. He wouldn't have left a hose off on the catch can and he would have taken your speed limiter off the first time. I think you literally got HOSED! But if your happy thats all that matters.

very possible that I got hosed. from the breakdown on parts and labor I listed, is there anything that stands out as off?. Can I get someone to do a dyno pull and see where the car is at and take it from there?.

I am not in any way, shape or form trying to be an A Hole but Im just saying I think you would have better results with other avenues. I'm just saying if it were me I would be dissapointed with the results for that kind of money. I dont know how far you are from Tampa Tuning or FSP but either one of those guys could throw it on a dyno and see whats up! You could have gone with this: http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/2...p-package.html and put in on in half a day and would have had plenty of money left over to increase! And would have made a lot more power. Im still thinking your tune is funny, plus that and the fact you dont have a CAI. Thats almost a given first mod to these cars.
