Car show creetons!!!!

I've had mine at OBI, Oakdale and Bald Hill with mostly complimnetary comments. Same with Sayville Car show last weekend. Lots of questions but not a lot of critisism.

I got my Camaro in June and since then I have entered two car shows locally. Both were held to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Clubs, and hosted by local car clubs. Both were open to all years and makes.
The first one I found out about on the Mid-Atlantic section of this forum, so I met up with five other members and we went to the show together. Four Camaros and two Pontiacs, had a great day talking to each other, talking to other people about the Camaro, and getting to see a lot of great looking cars. It was a good place to see what others were doing to their cars and getting some great ideals. I would say that there were about 250 cars entered and they covered just about everything(hotrods, modifieds, customs, stock). It was also the first time a lot of people got to see the new Camaro up close and personal and we had four there ( a RJT, a CGM, a IOM, & Red). In fact I got a pretty nice shot of mine nose to nose with a 69 convertable.
And this last weekend I was in my second show which had about 85 cars entered with about nine 67/68/68 Camaro's there + my 2010. But what I liked about both shows was that there were cars of all makes and years and everyone (even the spectators) were respectful to each other and to the cars. These may not be Big Time car shows but they were fun, you could talk to the owners about their cars, get some really great ideals and information and they helped raise funds for a good cause. And I would say about 94% of the comments about the Camero were good, but even any negative ones were not expressed in a hateful manner.

Now that is a great pic!!! I do like both cars.... I wish I had the money to purchase both...While I am wishing, I wouldn't mind owing a Mustang too. That would be some kind of threesome...(even if the Camaro would kick both of the other car's butt...)

My husband and I go to a lot of shows and cruise nights in our Chevelle, and I say bring them all. Everyone has their own opinion of what they like, but if you truly like cars then there is plenty of room for everyone. I like to see different cars and what people have done to them, thats what makes this hobby so cool. New or old, it doesn't matter. Why do you think I ordered a Camaro? Because I saw one at cruise night.....

I have been to three car shows, won a trophy at both that gave them out. I am going to another show tomorrow. I have had a lot of great response, and of course a lot of people with incorrect information. Just be nice and tell them how it REALLY is LOL!

I try to live by a simple rule: If you cannot say anything nice, then do not say anything at all. At various shows, I'll talk with owners of all makes and make positive comments about others' rides (e.g., nice paint, I bet this took a lot of work, what type of wax do you use to get this kind of depth, etc.) regardless of my bias toward the car.

I have yet to show my Camaro. I do take my Corvair out to several local car shows a year and it amazes me how people have the gaul to tell me to my face how screwed up Corvairs are. People quote urban legends like: "those are the cars that the engine falls out of!" or: "those are the cars that flip over." I just take it in stride, realizing that the planet is teaming with no-nothing jerks. I'm a Chevy man but still have the ability to appreciate other cars no matter what make or model especially if the owner has spent countless hours doing the work themself. Anyway... chin up dude. Our Camaros are awesome and we don't "need" anyone to approve. You know what they say about opinions....

I didn't say much to anyone cause I kinda laid back and didn't tell anyone it was mine. I kinda played "fly on the wall" and stood near people to hear their comments.

The ironic part of it all was that I walked around and talked to people about their cars and a lot of them were running times around the Camaro's 1/4 mile time, some were running 1 - 2 sec faster. These were guys who had poured thousands into rusty shit boxes with huge blowers, turbos, big blocks, nitrous etc. Their cars were stripped down to lighten them up with drag radials.

Anyway, I'm thinking to myself that either their completely jealous, stupid or both. First, the car is hot. Looks great. Anyone who doesnt think so is lying or blind.

Second, a 12.9 to 13.2 1/4 mile stock out of the wrapper car is a great time. I know that none of these morons cars (other than the z06's) could do this.

Third, if I did slightly some of the mods these guys did my car would run past them. I could add a forced induction system or laughing gas. I can (if they were out yet) throw in a set of gears, do a cam, heads and all that crap.

I'm standing there thinking to myself that my car has 100 miles on it and a 6 yr warranty why would I start messing with the car.

Also, the people could care less about air conditioning and cruise control let alone that I had a blue tooth connection, Ipod contols, etc etc.

I dont know. I kinda left a little deflated. I've had my share of fast rusty roaches and sleepers in the past. Certainly this car is a lot nicer. Oh, btw, the only guys who actually liked the car a lot were guys in new vettes and ironically new challengers. The dudes in new chargers didn't like it.

AND OFCOURSE, none of the mustang drivers liked it. I did tell them though they could stop talking shit cause I have a Cobra in my driveway as we speak so I know from first hand experience which car is better.

Guess I'm just venting. Anyone else with car show experiences.

I agree with Jarvis59...we both had our RJTs at Oakdale a few weeks ago and we were the only 2010 Camaros there amongst every make, model, sport car, muscle car, "you name it", and our cars were by far, the "class of the field" and the "hits of the show"...

We were both asked quite a few questions, and I'm sure Don would agree that all the people we saw had nothing but POSITIVE comments about our cars...

I had people asking to take photos, and just get a chance to look inside and under the hood...

I have the V6 and Don has the V8...I might have "sold" a few V6s, as I was a "walking and talking Camaro commercial" and was very happy to answer any and all questions, as well as clear up any misconceptions or pre-judgements about the performance of the V6...

All was good for me, and I believe Don will agree...........

Not one negative comment or criticism...just a lot of folks "blown away" by the RJT color, as well as the majesty and awesomeness of this 5th Gen Camaro...

My daughters ex boyfriend was running around showing everyone his new background for his cell phone. Acting all big and tough that he had a 2010 Camaro as his background (not knowing whose car it was he had taken picture of). When he came up to my daughter to show off, my daughter replied flatly "yea thats my dad's car". Ex skulled off quitely.
