Trying to pick wheels - Thoughts?

Just a suggestion, take a look at the Hurst Stunners. I think the Black Hurst Stunners would look fantastic on Summit White.

Stunners look nice, but a couple problems, biggest issue is they are heavy!

Well, I think the TSW's have it. Still will probably ask my powdercoater of choice if possible to go from the gloss black to gunmetal, but if not the black will be fine.

I adored my Beyern Rapps on my GTO until i got into a an accident involving a curb and literally broke a wheel in half. The Beyerns are very thin and while they more than likely wouldnt give you any issues under normal circumstances, when they fail, they do not bend, they fracture and break. Beyerns are made by TSW so me personally will stay away from both brands unless it is one of their rotary forged wheels.

That certainly looks like a serious accident there, man. I'd think that at that point, the wheel is the least of my concern, but each situation is going to be different, but it is what it is.

Its not that the wheel failed, its how the wheel failed that concerned me. For the record, I lost traction in the rain and hopped a curb going ~30 mph. Zero damage to the car with the exception of the wheels.

Like I said, I have no reason to suspect under normal circumstances they would fail, but when something happened to me, the wheels had a complete and total failure.

you can certainly see some crazy amount of damage at 30mph, eh? yikes. Though if the wheels didn't give, the suspension may have taken more of a beating.

In any case, I think a lot of the aftermarket wheels are going to be similar, especially if, like me, you're working with a limited budget. (Not trying to put a bugdet on safety, but I think you get my point)

Absolutely those wheels saved me a lot of money in suspension parts, GTOs are expensive to repair. And no doubt around that price range there is a fine line between weight and quality. I absolutely loved my Rapps prior to this incident. They were actually quite light weight wheels for their price. Go for what you like, I just wanted to throw out my personal experience.

ohhh that's one sweet looking GTO... rare bird in the purple color, too it seems! I've had trouble finding weights of the TSW Carthage wheels to compare, but i expect to be similar to the OEM 20's

If they are like my Beyerns (which is likely, TSW makes Beyern) They should be fairly light, I couldnt find any weights anywhere for them online but i weighed them with tires VS. my stock GTO wheels with tires and they were a little bit lighter while also being larger in every dimension.

And yes Cosmo Purple is quite rare (though not the rarest GTO color, google search Barbados Blue) 1 of 700, and it is about half and half manual/automatics, that being the only option on GTOs. I ended up searching for several months and driving 4 hours to get mine. I miss it, it was an awesome car but i don't regret trading it in on my Camaro at all.

Well, hopefully there are no curbs in my future There's one of those Barbados blue GTO's around me, I've seen it on a few occasions

Oddly the only 2 GTOs i have ever drove were the 2 rarest colors, I test drove a Barbados a couple months before buying mine, then i ended up becoming friends with the guy who eventually bought it.
