Follow this step by step guide and you will be right as rain. The car sounds like it needs a good claying, and iron removal from sitting as long as it did. After that you will need to polish away any swirls, and then seal that perfect paint job!! Good luck man.

and here is what I did to my HWSE after I took it home: 1-power wash and use some dawn dish soap with your mitt (removes any wax/oil) 2-Iron-X it to remove iron from rail dust etc. 3-wash again 4- CLAY!!! 5-polish any scuffs/swirls 6-Miyagi say: wax on! wax off! Danielsan 7-use some adams VRT on your stripes. I applied this then rubbed it in to even it out with a clean bath towel (Not ones your spouse will object to!) |

You will need to clay the paint. Afterwards, a good polishing will clear any residual swirls and oxidation. The last step in fixing the paint will be either a wax or a sealant applied to the polished surface.
You should enjoy a very supple finish with improved shine and color quality if done correctly. Edit: Mask off trim pieces before you polish, to avoid staining.
