I was wondering how a post with a simple answer was still going. Another funny thing. Pulling the handle to put the top down, realizing the shelf is rolled up, trying to open the trunk, which you can't do with the top loose, redo the top, then opening the trunk .....

Thanks, all. I've had the car 3+ years now and never knew all this.

I was wrong, see below.

A couple of other observations: You don't need the fob -- with the driver's door closed you can open the passenger door, push the lock button, close the door, and the security system activates. It takes about 30 seconds for the system to arm itself after which none of the door buttons (door unlock, trunk unlock) will work. Again, that is with the top down. Note: I have my locking system set so that I can't lock the doors with the driver's door button (rather than the three chime and five second lock delay option). The button will lock both doors but the driver's door will immediately unlock. Only my fob will lock the driver's door.

Well, it's even more complicated than that. The driver's door button will lock both doors if both doors are already closed (you can lock yourself in for safety, for example) but it won't lock the driver's door if that door is already open.

Wish this was documented in the manual. Someone needs to draw a logic diagram showing all the locking system configurations!
My problem is that my husband does not have the fob and when he unlocks the door with just a key (programmed by the dealer), the alarm goes off until he either turns the ignition on or I disarm with my fob.
Weird.

Why does your husband have a key but not a FOB? You get 2 keys and 2 FOB's when you buy the car.

She has a 2011. Switchblade keys. Probably got handed a key if they did the recall. My dealer gave me 2 keys and checked off the recall as done without messing with my switchblade keys, so I have 2 switchblade keys and 2 regular keys.

Yea, but you still have 2 FOB's.. That's my question. The car is working as it is designed, the only way to stop the alarm going off when setting it with the FOB is to use a FOB....

I thought the OP was asking if one "can lay down in the back seat" of a Camaro. lol. Can you imagine trying to "make whoopee" in the back seat of a Camaro. Now that's something I'd like to see!

Probably designed before there was a vert made - hence it prevented the button from operating when the doors were locked, in case someone tried to fish in a rod.
