Is the installer tool you're talking used to keep the crank from turning while removing and installing the pulley?

you do not want an electric water pump. They don't have nearly as long of a life as a normal pulley driven water pump. They're designed for race cars, not every day daily drivers.

I have the flywheel holder (got it off of ebay). Drop the starter and use this to hold it in place.

Bought the installer tool (Colorado racing) that is specific for LS3 pulley installs

Had a simple harmonic balancer puller that I'm told will work

Like I said, was investigating them -- 10000 hours max -- not a good rate...

not worth the $700 from what I've seen so far...

Thanks for the input!

That's good. Ryan @ GPI said he's seen this happen before on the SLP Under-drive pulleys -- so I hope it was just the 'luck of the draw' for me...

I can tell you, I can rotate the pulley section around while main part on the cranks is still -- not a good sign...

Sucks that it happened, but glad you're getting it worked out. I hope all goes well, since I just saw that TSP is advertising it as being on backorder.

We have one other one fail within the last 3 months. It was a tsp kit like Don's. I think I may have to make the choice to stay with ati or fluidampr.

Don, if you'd like to pay the difference for the ati, Id be happy to do that for you.

To hold the crank from turning a 1/4" x1' rope will work just fine, remove one spark plug, feed in about 4" or so. Turn the balancer bolt until the top of the piston compresses the rope against the head, to remove the rope use something like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to turn the crank in the opposite direction. Works for me.
