Parts of your car will show up on craigslist and possibly here on this forum. I've seen a few sketchy sales posts on here saying "I bought a salvage car", I call Bull on those people with less than 50 posts.

It's getting to where you just can't have anything nice these days. What the other guy said about the Club though - that's not a bad idea. You don't see many of them in the wild these days and would probably throw would-be thieves for a loop.

I try to be smart - I work overnight and not in the greatest area - but I park far away and next to one of our bldgs with security cameras. If I take trips to bad areas (going to Manhattan in October), I take my beater/winter car instead.
Manhattan = bad area? Typical lol.

I've seen some of the nicest cars in the world driving and parking in Manhattan.

Perhaps you mean Harlem, or some other specific area, and not the entire borough of Manhattan?

Another one added to the list. Sucks that happened and hopefully your insurance company doesn't kill you. This would be an excellent reason to move out of California if I lived there. Seems auto theft is a lot higher.

Unfortunately, the truth is that if someone wants to steal something from you bad enough there will be no stopping them. Locks/OnStar/Security systems only keep the honest ones out. Basically a flat bed, disable OnStar and they are long gone :\

Sorry bud! Hopefully you can grab another via insurance

What is the club. And you could put a fake bomb replica in your car with lights and everything. I don't think a thief would steal that.

Damn, thats like the 4th-5th report of a stolen camaro (in the same exact fashion) from the same exact region. If anyone is in northern Cali close to the bay Area with a camaro then all of you are potential victims so I would start looking in to a secure garage, separate GPS system and/or something to lock the wheels from rotating (assuming they are towing these cars off) or a kill switch to the engine (assuming they are just hacking Onstar to start the engines).

They def. found a loop hole with Onstar itself for Onstar not to be able to locate the car and no reports of broken glass.

They ARE NOT "hacking" OnStar to start the engine, the car requires a key to move. They are disabling OnStar to prevent any of the services from disabling them

The most likely situation is towing these cars off. Hot wiring a car is very difficult this day in age with all the systems.

Sorry to hear about that man hope everything works out for your good. Years ago we would add a hidden switch for the ignition, car would not start untill the hidden switch was turned on.
