For some reason the ZL1 and Corvette are fairly cheap to insure. I looked at the Shelby and my Insurance would have doubled. Insane.

My insurance was 1600/year for the zl1 and well over 3k for the Shelby. I thought that was interesting. Congrats bud! Welcome to the ZL1 world - a little more exciting that the SS :p

Yeah Camaros and Corvettes are cheap on mine as well, when I was pricing out trade in options before I bought the SS both the SS and a C6 went up like $10-$13 a month. A Challenger RT went up like $75, A Charger SRT was $100 more

The ride is "tighter" but not uncomfortably stiff. I'd say on smooth roads, it actually rides better than my SS even in Sport. Steering input is more responsive. Bigboyblue described it best IMO as "Jekyll and Hyde". It's mild mannered in traffic and merges effortlessly. When your foot is in it, it's a complete beast. If driving the SS is a rock concert, driving the ZL1 is an 88 piece orchestra backing up a heavy metal band. The suede seats in the ZL1 are simultaneously more comfortable than the leather in my SS was and more supportive. I bet the Recaros are awesome too. A big change for me was going from 6 speed SS to auto ZL1... and that was the only decision I was unsure of, but I am really enjoying this configuration. The tapshift is great and the pure auto is very smooth. Part of the purpose of this car is accentuating your skill level as a driver. Hitting 3rd is no longer an issue. Haha. As much as I'd like to drive this car on a daily basis, the auto was a no-brainer for me, and it's still badass when I want it. When I traded my SS, I was showing 16.x mpg, the ZL1 is currently showing 15.x which is near enough it makes no difference to me. An 8$ / month insurance increase is nominal as well. Tons of little upgrades for me going from 2011 to 2014. Mylink vs the old plain radio, color HUD, etc. I almost bought a black one 2 weeks ago. The wife made me wait and get another yellow one. I definitely like the bright yellow over the rally yellow. Full disclosure, I also own a 2011 Equinox 2LT that I usually daily drive (28ish average mpg on my 40-45 minute commute with mixed street and highway plus a good bit of room)... I got to a boring space with my SS and I was just driving my Equinox 100% of the time. ZL1 rekindled the fire and I absolutely love the car. You won't regret it. congrats! I'm so jelly, a yellow 2014 auto is totally what I want. I mean to the T that's the car I want. lol I've decided i'd rather have faster more consistent track times with the auto then the fun of shifting. Oh btw i'm also a SS to ZL1 customer and yes there is so much different between the cars its just nuts. Doesn't drive the same, ride the same, handle the same, ect. The feedback and control from a SS to ZL1 almost beyond comprehension. If it didn't have basically the same interior you'd never know you were driving a Camaro.
Enjoy sir!!!
